...For the Harder I Work,The More I Live...
an excerpt from a quote by George Bernard Shaw.
An exclusive interview with Florida businessman, philanthropist and dog lover, Arthur Benjamin. – by Anna Cooke
Insha’ Allah is an Arabic saying, used when speaking about plans and events expected to occur in the future. Florida entrepreneur and animal advocate Arthur Benjamin explains that translated, it means God willing. Furthermore, it may be interpreted as that which is best for humanity, the Earth and all of God’s creations. Arthur travels the globe with the sole purpose of
making a difference in the world every day, no mat- ter how big or small. With his service dog Bandit by his side, Arthur has committed his life to improving the lives of people and their pets. His missions sup- port education, animal rescue and breast cancer research. We were first introduced to Arthur’s work while
doing research on another organization, Nowzad Dogs. Arthur, who had been our guest during The New Barker segment of The Skip Mahaffey Show during a November 21, 2011 broadcast, was assisting Nowzad Dogs founder Sergeant Pen Farthing, with the rescue of stray and abandoned dogs in Afghanistan. Just that week in fact, he helped facili- tate re-uniting soldiers with the dogs they cared for while on military duty in Afghanistan, through his own foundation, American Dog Rescue. “I actually met Pen at a Humane Society of the
United States gala in New York. A mutual friend, Cathy Kangas introduced us. We had breakfast in Greenwich Village the next morning, which resulted in bringing 10 dogs to the United States to be reunited with soldiers,” said Arthur. But, where does one begin to tell the story of a
man whose life experiences include flying into the arctic sea to bring more awareness to the cruel slaughter of seal pups? “It’s one thing to hear about the atrocities, and quite another to watch these amazing creatures in their natural habitat,” Arthur told us recently over the phone. Last year, he teamed up with television producer/actress Farah White and the Humane Society of the United States, for a trip that resulted in a 65-second public service announcement called Stop the Seal Hunt.
