Marriage Love &
Maribeth & Chantz Huggins Andrea Knapp Photography Maribeth Stalvey met Marshall Chantz Huggins in 1998 when she was in high school. Aſter
years of losing touch with one another, they reconnected in July 2010. She admits that she knew he was the one for her immediately aſter their first date. “We planned to go see the movie ‘Dinner with the Schmucks’ and decided to grab something to eat beforehand. We ended up having such a great time laughing and catching up that we totally skipped the movie and just stayed at the restaurant. I knew that if this night was any indication of how my life would be with him, I was sold!” Chantz, as she adoringly calls him, impressed her with his sense of humor. “Whenever you hear him laugh, you can’t help but join in.” He also turned her into quite a fan of offshore fishing. “I got hooked, too. We spent a lot of our time in Murrells Inlet going fishing and sharing our love for the coast.” Since they usually spent weekends at his townhouse in Murrells Inlet, spending one
for an early Valentine’s Day celebration was nothing out of the ordinary. That Saturday on the 11th of February, Chantz suggested a ride on a nearby ferris wheel. “Since neither of us had ridden it yet, we were excited about doing it! We boarded and up we went!” Just as they approached the top, he proposed. “Thankfully the ride stopped at the very top, so we were able to enjoy our special moment with a beautiful panoramic view of the coast.” Immediately, she began to brainstorm. She knew she wanted her special day to be traditional with beautiful flowers, specifically blue hydrangeas and ivory roses. She adds, “Another must have was beautiful classical music.”
88 February 2014 The dress she chose was the very first one she picked out of five others. “My mother and
I were in Pawley’s Island for her birthday one weekend in May and decided it would be fun for me to go try on some wedding dresses. It was an ivory Allure Couture ball gown style dress with a sweetheart bodice embellished with soſt flowers, lace appliqués and a ruched taffeta band that defined the waist.” She found Coco-style shoes to match perfectly with the flowers on the gown. For her veil, she chose cathedral length with lace on the edges. The morning of April 6, 2013, Maribeth and her bridesmaids met for brunch. Aſter-
wards, the ladies relaxed a bit before getting ready for the big day. Soon, the hairstylist and makeup artist arrived. Tamara Weatherford from Blush gave her the perfect sim- ple and natural look to complement her hairstyle. Needless to say, she looked gor- geous walking down the aisle in front of 170 guests. Waiting at the end, of course, was Chantz looking handsome in his black tuxedo. He gave her a diamond encrusted band to match her round cut center diamond engagement ring, and she gave him a silver band. Her wish of having classical music was granted, thanks to Linda McKenzie, her aunt. “She arranged a beautiful musical program that included a soloist, violinist and trumpeter.” She wasn’t able to get her invitations printed online in the specific color she wanted, so she went to M&M Printing and Graphics. “They recreated the design and even printed it in the color I wanted! They were a joy to work with, and I would definitely recommend them.”
