Marriage Love &
Sydney & Jarrott Hooks Libba Shepherd Photography Sydney Strickland and Jarrott Hooks were introduced to one another as children
in daycare. “He and I have been best friends since then. I always knew that Jarrott would be a part of my life.” The couple began dating in the 7th grade; at this time, their relationship lasted only a month. Things started getting serious for the both of them their senior year of high school. Once they graduated, Jarrott was accept- ed into Francis Marion University and Sydney into the College of Charleston. “So the long distance relationship began! Throughout college, I realized that I not only wanted him to be a part of my life, but I also wanted to spend everyday for the rest of my life with him.”
Besides his handsome looks, his faith in Jesus Christ is what made her fall in love with him. She adds, “He is passionate about everything he does. Jarrott is hard- headed (just like me), which makes me love him even more because we are con- stantly challenging each other yet making each other a better person for it. He’s also a very humorous person and never misses an opportunity to make me laugh.”
Aſter growing up together and spending six years as a couple, Jarrott decided to
propose to her during his visit to Charleston on April 26, 2013. “I planned a trip to the Charleston Riverdogs baseball game. I was starving from the time we walked in the gate, and Jarrott had finally agreed for us to go to the concession stand. As we were standing behind home plate, he got down on one knee and grabbed my hand. I then told him to stop playing around and kept on walking. Little did I know, Jarrott was serious! So, he pulled me back and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him as he gave me a solitaire diamond. Through the tears, I gladly said yes! To our surprise, a news anchor was in the stands and asked to share our story on the news that Mon- day morning. Not only did he propose at a baseball game behind home plate in front of hundreds of people, but we also got to share our love story with the whole city of Charleston. It is truly a night I will never forget!” She admits that it’s difficult to say what her dream was for her wedding - simply because it was everything she could have wanted and more! “Every picture illustrates the dream I had.”
