Marriage Love &
Kalin & Jamie Streater Ashley Jones Photography Kalin Sellars met future husband Jamie Streater in Augusta, Georgia. At the time, he
was working at Kimberly Clark under a maintenance contract. Kalin was bartending and waitressing at Shannon’s Bar and Grill. “He came in one night with some people he worked with. Aſter coming back with his drink, the first thing he asked me was, ‘Is that a chicken pox scar on the right side of your face?’ Weirded out by the question, I answered him with a simple yes and an odd look. He responded, ‘I have one in the exact same place.’ As I looked at his face, he did have one in the exact same place! From there on, we were inseparable.” Aſter several dates Kalin decided to introduce Jamie to River, her three-year-old son
from a previous relationship. “The first time I saw Jamie with him, I knew he was the one I wanted to spend forever with. He and River just had this connection from the start that developed into a very strong bond between the two. The way I felt about him and seeing my son interact with him the way he did, I knew that this was man I would spend my life with.” There was no doubt that Jamie also had strong feelings for Kalin, as she could tell simply by the way he looked at her. “He looked at me like I was the only person he saw, that he only had eyes for me.” The couple dated long distance for seven months before she moved to Johnsonville where he lived.
On their one year anniversary, Jamie took Kalin to one of their favorite restaurants
in Georgetown. Aſter dinner, they strolled the boardwalk hand in hand. “He faced me to him, looked into my eyes, told me that he has never loved anyone like he loves me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He called me by my full name and asked me if I would marry him. Before I even gave him a yes, he already had the ring on my finger! I was one happy girl.” Before she started planning a wedding, she promised herself to enjoy the process and not sweat the small stuff. “[And] to actually take it all in because we would never get to relive this day.” She and Jamie were married on June 8, 2013 in front of 350 guests in Georgetown.
“I was completely nervous on our wedding day, not because I was getting married but more so how everything was going to go. I was filled with all kind of feelings, ner- vousness, joy, excitement…all the above!” For her dress, she wore a Southern styled gown and for a pop of color, peach heels. Her beautiful flowers fit perfectly with the decor of burlap and mason jars. “Hydrangeas and magnolias were definitely some of my favorite flowers used. I wanted it to be a Southern wedding and that’s exactly what it was.”
