HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY
Jill with her son, Andrew.
According to Jamie, married life has been relatively easy so far. “There are tough decisions that have to be made regarding finances, raising children, etc. that most people deal with; but we get along great. She is my best friend. We can talk things out, make plans and rarely disagree. We both believe life is too short to argue all the time. We split up things that have to be done to run a household, and it makes it easi- er on both of us. Even with the kids, we seem to have a pretty good routine.” She elaborates, “Jamie is so easy going. He does everything he can to make our family happy. Most people say marriage is a lot of work; but with him, it’s not. It’s so easy!” It’s not difficult for him to choose what he adores most about her. “She has a very big heart. She’s always willing to try and help others when she can. She has a great smile and sense of humor. Jill is a great mom to our kids, and she keeps me in line. But does allow me to be me!” Jill jokes that one of her favorite qualities about him is that she only has to ask once for him to achieve the things on her “Honey Do List.” She also admires him for the selfless man, outstanding father and all around blessing of a man that he is. “He sacrifices things for himself and puts our family first. He is such a wonderful father and stepfather to our children. I have a hard time being objective in many situations. He helps me see the big picture.” Both admitted that they believe they are soul mates. “Aſter my divorce, I
wasn’t going to go look for someone. God was going to have to bring him to me. If it meant I would be single the rest of my life, and then I would just be single. For Jamie, he waited until he was 43 to get married. I think that says a lot. I don’t just love him; I am still in love with him. He had to find the right woman to love his two Basset Hounds, and I had to find someone to love my two dogs…especially since they sleep with us! Not to mention the fact that Jamie is a father, not just a stepfather, to Andrew. He loves him just as much as he loves Connor. One of the things he wanted for Christmas this past year was a new tattoo. He got two, one on the back of each arm. One says Connor and the other says Andrew. This is a reminder to me every day how much he loves both of our children and thinks of Andrew as his own. With all these factors, it was meant for us to be together.” As they grow in their relationship as husband and wife, Jamie and Jill are ex-
cited about their future. “I’m looking forward to watching our kids grow up and seeing where life takes them, hoping that we did well with the directions. We want our kids to get their education, get great jobs, and then provide me and their mom with the lifestyle that we would love to get accustomed to!” Jill con- cludes, “We look forward to showing them how a loving and healthy marriage is supposed to be. We want our children to be as happy as we are.”
Jill and Jamie Young reside in Florence. She is an IB teacher at Wilson High School and he is the General Manager for the Florence RedWolves. They have two children, Andrew and Connor.
