Specialist Nuclear Cardiology Physiologist/


Technologist Salary: Band 6 £25,528 - £34,189 pa Hours: p/t 20.62 pw


The Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) is one of the largest NHS Teaching Trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for scientific, nursing and medical education, training and research.


The Trust provides integrated cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery services for health authorities in the Oxford Region and for a number of neighbouring regions within the cardiac, thoracic and vascular division. The majority of patient care takes place in the purpose built state-of-the-art Oxford Heart Centre. The Cardiac Physiology Department provides all aspects of invasive and non-invasive services, including nuclear cardiology and is also active in the Modernising Scientific Careers programme.


You should have demonstrable knowledge and experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures in cardiology – Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy, gated bloodpool (MUGA), heart failure etc. including radio-pharmacy, SPECT, GSPECT and planar scintigraphy and image processing, QC, radiation physics and radiation protection, radiation physics and management of cardio-pulmonary emergencies.


You’ll also have knowledge in most cardiac physiology procedures including physiologist led exercise testing, analysis of event monitors, echocardiography, cardiac catheterisation, though necessary training will be given.


Good communication skills are required to support patient-based procedures and maintain professional links with other healthcare staff. The post would suit a healthcare science graduate nuclear medicine technician/cardiac physiologist looking to develop their experience, knowledge and skills in this expanding department.

At Darent Valley Hospital we have a long history in the development of radiographer advanced practice in reporting with Plain Image, CT, Barium Study and MRI reporting radiographers.


We have an extensive range of modalities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, bone densitometry, interventional and cardiac angiography and all aspects of general and fluoroscopic radiography. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with good leadership skills and commitment to ongoing service improvement.


Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated, plain image reporting radiographers prepared to work flexibly within the department in order to support the expansion of the plain film reporting service. Sessional cover seven days/ week to support AE and GP image interpretation is required and experience in both axial and appendicular reporting will be an advantage. You will work with the Lead Reporting Radiographer to support quality and service improvement and will be required to attend meetings and provide support and training for staff and students as well as participating in the audit requirements of the department. You will also participate in the imaging work of the department with rotation through the general department, CT and MRI depending on experience and training.
