3 www.sor.org SYNERGY NEWS FEBRUARY 2014 Time is running out:

Deadline for HCPC renewals is 28 February

On 13 February, the HCPC will be emailing all radiographers who have not renewed their registration to give them notice of its intention to remove their name from the Register. In mid-January, 66.3%

of radiographers had renewed, almost all using the online system which allows completion of the process in just a few minutes. However, more than 9000 radiographers

had failed to renew, prompting the HCPC to take further action by sending renewal forms out by post. To ensure that your name stays on the Register: • Complete your renewal application no later than 28 February and pay online;

• Contact the HCPC

now if you have changed your home address – www.hpc-uk.org/ registrants/faqs/; or

• Sign up to the HCPC’s newsletter (which includes renewal reminders) by emailing newsletter@hcpc- uk.org.

For more information about the registration renewal process, please visit www.hcpc-uk.org/ registrants/renew. To contact the HCPC’s

Registration Department, telephone 0845 300 4472 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm). Email registration@ hcpc-uk.org..

“I can’t wait to get started!”

Sue Johnson CR(R) BSc(Hons) MA PgC has been appointed SoR professional officer for clinical imaging. Sue, who is site

superintendent radiographer for Derby

Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, says she is “hugely excited and can’t wait” to begin her new job on 1 April.

Sue has been at the trust

for 27 years and during that time she has worked

in leadership roles, including service manager of the trust’s breast unit. She has also lectured at Derby University.

“I’m what you might call a

radiographer’s radiographer – someone with rounded knowledge and a broad approach. I do the bread and butter radiography stuff!” says Sue. In 2013, she became a

Fellow of the College of Radiographers and the previous year, served as SoR President. Sue’s time on UK Council has given her a wide understanding of current professional issues. “I’ve had a fabulous career at this trust and there’s a big part of me that will be sad to leave it. “It was a hard decision

to make the move from the NHS, but becoming a professional officer is a great opportunity and I’m joining a team that are motivated and enthusiastic.

“I’m excited to be joining them!” NEWS

In mid-January, more than 9000 radiographers had still not renewed their registration.

Get involved! Send any issues you would like raised to your Regional

or National Committee (www.sor.org/around-uk) Be a delegate! Contact

your Regional or National Committee and they can put you in touch with the relevant Delegate Lead who will be able to advise you on how to apply to become a delegate.

Keep up-to-date The latest information on the ADC timetable and deadlines can be found on the SoR website (bit.ly/ J6Isyi).
