IFE13 PREVIEW The Hub


The Hub is the dedicated seminar zone at IFE. This yea, the main focus in The Hub will be Health and Wellbeing.


Mike Coupe, Group Commerical Director from Sainsbury’s and chair of the GroceryAid fundraising committee will be interviewed by food industry and media consultant Clive Beddall


Terry Jones from the FDF will examine the role the industry plays in promoting health during his interactive session entitled ‘Delivering Healthy Growth: How the Industry can Tackle the Healthy Eating Debate’


Steve Dawson of Walker’s Shortbread and former President of Food From Britain America will look at transatlantic trends that may potentially impact the UK food industry, including controversial ‘free-from’ food claims and sugar and fat tax


Food technologist at Waitrose, Jonathon Bayne will examine future trends in the industry covering obesity, climate change and sustainable sourcing.


A presentation from LEAF will address issues of sustainability in the food industry, whilst a seminar led by WRAPwill focus on the voluntary Hospital and Foodservice Agreement that aims to reduce waste and promote more recycling.


IFE13 Question Time will take place Monday 18 March, the panel will include Rosie Boycott, chair of the London Food Board; Andrew Opieof the British Retail Consortium; MP David Heath, Minister for Envrionment, Food and Rural Affairs in DEFRA; Melanie Leech from the Food and Drink Federation; and Ufi Ibrahim from the British Hospitality Association.


Food for thought at this year’s IFE...


The International Food and Drink Event is returning to London’s ExCeL arena this year, with a fresh look and new layout. Running from the 17-20 March visitors will be met with over 1,200 exhibitors, as well as a wide range of events from seminars on pressing economic issues in The Hub, to the UK Final of the World Pizza Championship.


FRESH IDEAS


IFE13 will be celebrating some of the best new product developments with its awards, Fresh Ideas, with one entry eventually be crowned overall winner. Visitors will be able to explore the latest product launches on The Boulevard.


NEW PRODUCTS LIVE


In association with Mintel, these seminars will give visitors the opportunity to hear about the latest products as well as offering trend forecasting and guided tastings to illustrate the changing consumer preferences.


BRITISH REGIONAL KITCHEN AND SPECIALITY & REGIONAL FOOD FROM BRITAIN


This will see some of the best-known chefs celebrate regional produce and talent, offering inspiration for product ideas.
