INDUSTRY NEWS A saucy design

Paragon’s design for The Saucy Fish Co has won the award for Best Packaging of a New Product at the UK Packaging Awards 2012. The packaging design included a unique aperture window in the shape of a fish, which contained the bespoke Watercress and Crème Fraiche Salmon dressing, giving the brand real impact on the shelf. This section however was not all style, it provided protection and preservation for the fragile pouch, and was a key structural component. The deep black packaging was able to provide a lightweight solution, showing packaging material reduction without risk of leakage. The paper elements were also printed on sustainably sourced board material. The Saucy Fish Co wanted packaging, which would affirm quality, and the brand has already generated retail sales in excess of £30m. For further information please telephone 0843 507 1023 or visit www.paragonprintandpackaging.com

New developments for Crown

Global forklift truck and warehouse equipment manufacturer, Crown Lift Trucks, has announced the opening of its new UK head office in Basingstoke together with further development of its Warrington technical and sales support centre. Investment in a new UK headquarters in Basingstoke follows another year of expansion and profitable growth for Crown in the UK which has seen sales and order intake increase significantly in recent years. The new 37,000 sq ft building, adjacent to the main A33 Reading Road, will serve as a technical and sales support centre for the south of England in additional to being the UK’s new

headquarters. Crown have also recently launched the new ESR 5200 reach truck series. Available in configurations optimised for almost every application, the new trucks have been designed for the most confined storage environments. To enhance operator confidence all models in the series feature Crown’s intelligent Optimised Cornering Speed system, which detects whether the truck is driving into or out of a curve and adjusts speed and acceleration accordingly. The ESR 5220 is ideally suited for tight spaces and despite compact dimensions, the trucks are ruggedly- built and powerful – and at only 1120 mm wide, two trucks can pass in an aisle just 2.5 metres wide. Capable of lifting loads to a height of 7500 mm, the ESR 5220 can handle almost every task in the smaller warehouse. Narrow outriggers
