Rear Adm. Eleanor V. Valentin Commander, Navy Medicine Support Command Director, U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps

ear Adm. Eleanor Valentin is the first female flag officer to


serve as director of the United States Navy Medical Service Corps. She assumed command of Navy Medicine Support Command and assumed duties as the 16th director of the Medical Service Corps on 1 October 2009. After receiving her bachelor of science degrees in zool- ogy and psychology at University of Washington, she completed a master’s degree in public health and a master of science degree in public health (bio statistics) at the University of Hawaii.


In 1982 she was commissioned as a lieutenant junior grade, Medical Service Corps and then served in department head and administrative officer positions for the next decade at Naval hospitals in San Diego, Guam, Yokosuka, Japan. She also served as director for administration at Naval Medical Clinic in Pearl Harbor.


Next, she directed Regional Operations, in the Office of the Secretary of Defense TRICARE Management Activity. There, she led service teams in developing plans and strategies to implement policy guidance for delivery of healthcare services to eligible beneficiaries. She also served as commanding of- ficer, Naval Hospital/Health Clinic Cherry Point, N.C. For- merly, she served as chief of staff for Navy Medicine National Capital Area. Valentin was promoted to her current rank on September 1, 2009.

ear Adm. Elaine Wagner attended Butler Uni- versity earning a bachelor of arts in 1976 and then Indiana University School of Dentistry earning a doctor of dental Surgery in 1980. She completed her pediatric dentistry residency in 1982. She was commissioned in December 1983. In July 1987, she became the Pedi-

In 1995, Wagner became junior assignment officer for the dental corps at the Bureau of Naval Personnel followed in 1998, as Pediatric Dentistry department head at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School.


She has served as clinic director, Branch Dental Clinic, Washington Navy Yard and director of Surgical Services and director of Women’s, Children’s and Community Health at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. Wagner’s next assignment was as the commanding officer, Naval Hospital Beaufort, S.C. in 2006. In 2008, she reported as commanding officer, Expeditionary Medical Facility Kuwait and, in 2009, com- manding officer of Naval Health Care New England. In August 2010, she assumed the duties as the chief, Navy Dental Corps. In September 2011, she assumed command of Navy Medicine East and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.


Rear Adm. Diane Webber Deputy Commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command


ear Adm. Diane Webber graduated summa cum laude from William Jewell College with a bachelor de- gree in music education. Her early assignments include oceanographic watch officer at U.S. Naval Facility, Ar- gentina, Newfoundland and commander, Oceanographic Systems, Pacific.

Freedom, she commanded the U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Bahrain. Webber was as- signed to Multi-National Forces, Iraq, as director, Commu- nications and Information Systems Coalition Force Plans/ Joint Network Control Center.


Webber has been director, Global Network Operations and Space Center at Naval Network and Space Operations Command, Dahlgren. She also has served as the division director for Communications and Networks.


She holds certificates in Chief Information Officer and In- formation Assurance from Information Resource Manage- ment College at National Defense University and Informa- tion Operations from Naval Postgraduate School. She also earned master’s degrees in management from the Univer- sity of Redlands (California) and military science from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
