Lt. Gen. Susan S. Lawrence Army Chief Information Officer/G-6

t. Gen. Susan Lawrence became the Army chief information officer (CIO) G-6


on March 2, 2011. As CIO, she reports to the secretary of the Army for setting direc- tion and objectives, and supervises all Army C4 (command, control, communications, and computers) and information technology functions. As the G-6, she supports the chief of staff of the Army by advising on the impact of communica- tions security, equipping and employment of network, com- munications, and signal capabilities on Army operations.


Lt. Gen. Lawrence enlisted in 1972 and was commissioned in 1979. Throughout her career, she has served in operational assignments in Europe, Korea, Southwest Asia and the United States. She has commanded at every level, from platoon to signal command.


Her staff assignments include branch chief to Information Sys- tems Engineering Command-Europe; and CIO/assistant chief of staff for United States Europe and 7th Army. She commanded the 7th Signal Brigade in Germany, served as commanding gen- eral of the 5th Signal Command, and the commanding general of the 9th Signal Command/Network Command.


Lt. Gen. Lawrence has a bachelor’s degree from Campbell University in North Carolina, where she received her com- mission, and she holds a master’s in information systems management from the University of Georgia.


In 2011, Lt. Gen. Horoho deployed with I Corps as the spe- cial assistant to the commander of the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, Afghanistan. She assumed command of the Army Medical Command on December 2011 and was sworn in as Army Surgeon General two days later. Her previous positions include deputy surgeon general, chief of the Army Nurse Corps, commander, Western Region- al Medical Command, commander, Madigan Army Medical Center, commander, Walter Reed Health Care System, and commander, DeWitt Health Care Network.

t. Gen. Patricia Horoho earned her bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of North Carolina in 1982. She received her master’s from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a resident graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, where she earned a second master’s in national resource strategy.

t. Gen. Kathleen Gainey’s duties include driving Joint Force readiness, maximiz- ing the Joint Force commander’s freedom of action, and providing the best advice to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in order to shape the logistics environment. On May 13, 2011, she was nominated for assignment as deputy commander, United States Transportation Command. Gainey received her commission as a second lieutenant through Reserve Officers` Training course (ROTC) in 1978. Her previous commands include the 5th Heavy Boat Company, 6th Transportation Battalion; 7th Corps Support Group, Warner Barracks in Bam- berg, Germany; Defense Distribution Center, Pennsylvania and commanding general, Surface Deployment and Distri- bution Command, headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. She earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from the Old Dominion University, and an M.B.A. in contract management and procurement from Babson College. She is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Army War College.

Patricia McQuistion has served in numerous assignments, starting as a maintenance platoon leader and S-1 for the 25th Infantry Division (Light) and then as a protocol officer for the U.S. Army Western Command at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. She moved to Germany, where she served as a company commander in the 56th Field
