The key challenge was to find a filter that had the capability to integrate a nozzle plate on a horizontal filter as opposed to a vertical type. After attending a technical presentation by Waterco’s national commercial division, the client recognised that Waterco’s Air Scour Filtration systems would be the perfect solution. Because of the specific requirements for the Singapore swimming pool, Waterco modified the system to develop the company’s first Nozzle Plate Horizontal Sand Filter. The filter was installed at the college pool in September 2012. The client originally considered another supplier’s product, but made the decision to go with Waterco because it was able to provide the Nozzle Plate Horizontal Sand Filter at a competitive price but more importantly of high quality and design. Adds Tony Fisher from Waterco: “In addition, the launch of Waterco’s Micron XL filter further highlighted our position as a leader in the manufacture of fibreglass filters. It certainly enhanced the market’s confidence in Waterco products.” And the benefits are tangible. “Waterco’s air scouring system gives a better backwashing rate,” comments the client. In fact, using Waterco’s Air Scour Filtration system will result in a saving of 25% - 35% of the backwash water for all filters. “Backwashing a filter with sand media at

Standout features of the Waterco Air Scour System include: • Provides extremely uniform air scour distribution
• Installed with no underdrain modifications required
• Works more efficiently in industrial water treatment applications where the water is much dirtier than is normally found in a commercial pool application.
• Savings of 25% - 35% of the backwash water
Singapore’s AMK-ITE features five different campuses in one mega campus and started operating in January 2013. It is the most extensive ITE campus project to date.
