HELP WANTED...

The children of Dunblane Primary School are fortunate to be working with literacy expert Gill Friel to develop an exciting approach to reading. Our Reading Circles project was trialled in a couple of classes & has proved a great success: children are motivated to read and are involved in selecting their reading partners, the texts to read and agreeing the pace they would work at. This has actually increased the pace and progress of their reading, and increased their confi dence to discuss the plots with their classmates.

We would now like to build on this success by introducing Reading Circles to more classes in the school. Whilst we have already invested in new books to interest and excite our young readers, it would be really helpful to off er as wide a choice as possible from the vast array of fabulous children’s books currently being published.

It takes £40 to establish a new circle and this donation would enable us to buy multiple copies of selected novels. We are looking to invite individuals or businesses to help us with these costs. Each donated book will contain a book plate displaying the name of the family or business who donated it.

If you are interested in supporting this fantastic project and help develop a new generation of enthusiastic readers, please get in touch with the school or any members of the parent council. Dunblane Primary School tel: 01786 822 351.
