Are you ready for a new challenge?

At this time of year many of us start to think about the New Year, and some even make some New Year Resolutions. Usually these are very personal, but in some cases they are more altruistic and involve helping others who are less fortunate than themselves.

The members of the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane resolve each year to try to help not just the local community, but also others less fortunate than ourselves, both in the UK, and abroad. We do this by organising major fundraising events such as the “Duck Race” during the Dunblane Fling Weekend, the Am-Am Golf Day in June, the Beat Beethoven Challenge in October, and the very successful Christmas Concert in December.

These are the high profi le fund raising events in the Rotary calendar for next year. However, there are a number of other activities involving the local communities as well.

Our Rotary Club now involves all ages. Last year a junior section of Rotary, called “Interact”, was started at the Queen Victoria School, and already there are over 40 pupils involved.

However, Rotary is not just a fund raising activity, it is very much an organisation that provides its members and their partners with a great deal of fun and social “get-togethers”.

If one of your “New Year’s Resolutions” involves being more proactive in the community and you want to have fun and companionship at the same time, why not resolve to fi nd out more about your local Rotary Club. You can do so by looking us up on the web by Googling “Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan & Dunblane”, or just come along to one of our weekly meetings at the Westlands Hotel, on a Thursday evening at 6.15pm. You will be made most welcome.

Don’t let the ‘post festive season blues’ get you down!

St Blane’s panto at the end of January will lift your spirits and send you home with a smile on your face.

Fun and laughter for all the family – with plenty of opportunities to “Boo” at the ‘baddies’ too!
