Free scholarships for local children
RAZZAMATAZ is one of the fastest growing theatre schools in the UK, having shot to prominence on BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2007. Razzamataz Theatre Schools in Maidstone now in their second year are proud to announce their scholarship opportunities for 2013. Last year, Maisy Dance, aged 10, from Maidstone won a 12
month scholarship to attend Razzamataz Theatre schools in Maidstone and Jade Capeling, 16 years from Meadow Down was a runner up achieving a 6 month scholarship. Judges were impressed with their focus and passion for the performing arts. Previous winners have gone on to win national scholarships, perform in The West End and secure closed auditions for leading West End shows. Along with providing the students with great opportunities
the theatre school has a commitment to improving the health and prospects of children across Maidstone and Medway. As part of this Razzamataz Maidstone and Medway are offering 4 scholarships, including two 12 month scholarship for two young budding artists. “I am delighted to be able to reward young talent across
Medway and Maidstone and be able to provide them with an opportunity to focus their talent and skills with professional tutors and whilst having fun!” says Hayley Limpkin, Principal of Razzamataz Maidstone & Medway. The scholarship programme, ‘Razz’s Got Talent’ initially launched in January 2011 and every year since have been overwhelmed by the response and amount of local talent! Since January 2011, Razzamataz Maidstone & Medway have given away over £5000 worth of scholarships to local young people. “We appreciate that the cost of bringing up children today is immense,” says Hayley. “By offering these scholarships we are hoping to give children the chance to benefit from so many positive aspects of the performing arts - Physical fitness levels are increased, positive mental attitudes are enhanced, along with confidence and self-esteem”. Razzamataz Theatre Schools offer exceptional training in
dance, drama and singing together with exciting opportunities to perform. Classes are for children from age 4 to 18 and allow students to experience a range of performance styles from classic West End musical theatre to funky street dance, pop singing, film and television styles of acting. Razzamataz believes that every student should have the opportunity to be energetic, to gain confidence and to make friends whilst having lots of fun. Auditions for these coveted places will be held in front of a panel of judges on Sunday 27th January 2013 from 11.00am
and is open to anyone aged between 6 – 17 who has a talent for performing! Children just need to prepare and perform a short 3 minute piece of either a musical theatre song and dance, commercial dance, pop song, drama improvisation or scripted drama piece. Entrants must apply for a time slot & will be subject to availability. Time slots must be booked by 24th January 2013. Entrants after this date will not be eligible. Razzamataz are keen to express they promote the positive
