February 18 - 22 Childrens Cookery, Leeds Castle. Maidstone


Children can get creative this half term and learn how to make handmade sweets to take home and enjoy. Experts will be on hand to give demonstrations and talks on the history of cookery.


February 21 - 22 Birds and Beasts Roadshow, Chartwell, Westerham


Half term fun with a close encounter with birds and beasties including a tarantula, snake and giant millipede! An exciting touchy-feely experience provided by the Hawking Centre. There are two sessions per day, at 11.30 am and 2 pm. £3 per person. No pre-booking required.


MARCH March 9 Rationed fashion, Maidstone Museum


Meet local costume historian Lee Ault, who will discuss fashion from the 1940s illustrated by an extreme wealth of authentic clothing including those all-important accessories. Booking is advisable. Tickets £5. 01622 602850.


March 9 - 10 Peppa Pig, Kent Life, Maidstone


Peppa Pig returns with brother George to enjoy the sights, sounds and activities at Kent Life. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Peppa and George at intervals throughout the day. Standard Kent Life admission prices apply. Members free.


March 10 Daffodil Heaven, Chiddingstone Castle


For a great day out this spring, look no further than the lovely Chiddingstone Castle near Edenbridge. The grounds will be covered in a mass of daffodils in March and the castle will open on Mothering


Sunday when special cream teas will be served in the cosy Victorian Tea Room. Inside the Castle visitors can see the amazing artefacts collected by the gifted antiquary Denys Eyre Bower who left his collections for the nation to enjoy.


March 10 Conservation Day, Ranscombe Farm Reserve, Cuxton


Find out about hands-on conservation at this important wild plant reserve. Great for families or anyone who wants to have a go. You will be provided with hand tools and instructions to create and maintain habitat for rare wild plants. Wear suitable clothes, sturdy footware and bring a packed lunch. March 14 Flowers: their Symbolism and Folklore, Walmer Castle and Gardens A specialist walk looking at the garden plants that have attracted significant cultural interest over centuries, from ancient superstition to Victorian symbolism. 10am - 12pm. Ticket price includes light refreshments.
