March 15 Crowborough Arts


A talk by Alison Weir, the UK's top-selling female historian on “The Monstrous Regiment of Women: the lives of Tudor queens and commoners”. The evening will include a performance of period music. Tickets £15 from 01892 853294 or email gaye.jee@clara.co.uk.


March 23 Spring Spectacular Hole Park Gardens, Rolvenden


The gardens will be open daily between 11am and 6pm until May 31, Hole Park has been in the Barham family for the past four generations. The gardens manage to combine formalised gardens with natural woodland. They cover some 15 acres and were developed, laid out and planted by Colonel Barham, the great-grandfather of the present owner. After the beauty of the daffodils, camellias, magnolias and early flowering spring bulbs, nature puts on a truly magical show when the woodlands are carpeted in a sea of bluebells in May.


March 23 and 24 My Kent Big Weekend


Thousands of free tickets to the county’s top attractions and visitor destinations will be up for grabs for Kent residents when the My Kent Big Weekend ballot website goes live on January 28.


Wildlife parks, family fun attractions, castles, vineyards and more will be opening their doors to free ticket holders, and everyone else wanting to share in the celebrations during My Kent Big Weekend, giving residents an opportunity to discover new days out and entertainment on their doorstep. The event, launched by Visit Kent seven years ago, has become a highlight of the county calendar . To find out more about all the attractions taking part in My Kent Big Weekend, and enter the ballot for free tickets, go to www.mykentbigweekend.co.uk from January 28 to February 18. Alternatively, go to your local visitor information centre for information and to enter the ballot for attractions of your choice. Two free tickets are available per Kent household.


March 24 Let's go fly a kite South Foreland Lighthouse, Saint Margarets Bay, Dover


Enjoy some fresh spring air with an afternoon of kite flying. Bring your favourite kite or even build and decorate one with the kite maker. £5 per kite kit. Normal admission charges apply. Car parking at the White Cliffs site. The lighthouse is a two-mile walk (45 minutes) from the White Cliffs site.
