Neighbourhood Watch get stuck into clean up
fter a clean up of Marske Slipway was ordered by
the Environmental Health Offi cer, Marske Fishermens’ Association moved all the tractors and cleared the top of the slipway expecting that the heap would be cleared away by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council. When, due to staff shortages
and the lack of a trained digger operative, the heap remained as an obstruction to essential work on a supporting wall, members of Cliff Terrace Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) stepped in and using shovels and a wheelbarrow, they started clearing the wall. A NHW spokesperson said: “We are a close-knit community that looks out for each other and we are all ready to help in any
eventuality. “The council tell us that once their staff are available they will be able to remove the heap completely, so all we can do for now is clear this area and put the rubbish further down out of the way of vehicles.”
