Winner celebration L
ocal business Nancy Darcy Hairdressing fights hard times with their unique style show concept. The stage was set and 250 seats were filled as guests helped to raise money for Young Carers Project. Nancy Darcy Hairdressing invited guests to their
own x-factor style event - The Ultimate Style experience at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Saturday 20th October. The event was a combination of local treats, fresh
new talent, outstanding hair creations and the final of Nancy Darcy’s home-grown model contest, The Ultimate Doll. Guests arrived through the Crypt entrance where
they were met with filled goody bags and a welcome drink. Cupcakes, mini savoury goodies, tarot readings and nail art were but to name a few of local treats on offer at the pre-show event. Young girl band ‘The Dollys’ and Redcar dance school ‘Dance Magic’ kept guests entertained until the main event. Opening the show with a brilliant performance,
new artist Hatty Keane wowed the audience. Nancy Darcy Hairdressing put on a visual masterpiece of hair creations, going head to head for the audiences vote of their favourite look. “The style off was about showing people what
we do in the salon, taking trends we are given on a seasonal basis and interpreting them in a Nancy Darcy way. In the salon with clients, we work on creating commercial interpretations from the catwalk inspiration we are given from Wella professionals. “For the show we blew this up and threw it out on
the catwalk for all to see, creating one commercial look and one very avant garde look, allowing us to be creative and showcase amazing hair.” The guests were then treated to an amazing performance from hot new girl band ‘Fanfair’ who have recently supported ‘The Wanted’ on tour. The piece de resistance of the night came when the
11 girls who have been part of The Ultimate Doll since March, hit the runway to fight for the title of The Ultimate Doll 2012 and become the face of Nancy Darcy Hairdressing. Accompanied by their own cover shoot image-
courtesy of Keith Moss photography and their handpicked song, each girl walked the catwalk before guest judges and mentors Tallie Crawford, Pat and Keith Moss revealed the winner. Coming all the way from Wakefield- Kristi
Arabskyj took the title and is now set for an exciting year ahead of her. “When I came across the U.D competition and heard how the U.D team’s beliefs drive them as individuals in their careers it seemed very much how I love to work. I’m so proud to be a part of them.” Kristi told Coastal View: “Winning the Ultimate
Doll title was very overwhelming. It feels like I have finally opened a door into my dream ambition and someone has believed in me.
“I am so thankful for this inspirational experience
and opportunity of being part of the Ultimate Style Show. I met some great people along my journey. I now have the exciting opportunity of working along side Keith Moss and his amazing photography team to start building my portfolio which will help me in the industry and I have the honour of becoming the face of Nancy Darcy Hairdressing.” The team will be working with her on her prize of
an on location portfolio, and Kristi will look forward to fronting all of ND’s 2013 marketing material. This will not only give Kristi the experience of photo shoots, but will provide her with the right platform and contacts to start a very exciting career in the industry. The event was a huge success in not only Nancy
Darcy finding a face for their business but also raising money to support the Young Carers at the Junction. The total raised was £3200! Beccy MD at Nancy Darcy said: “It was such
a pleasure to meet Lawrence from the Junction Foundation, he’s doing a fantastic job. To see the young carers enjoying themselves on the night that we created was a wonderful feeling.” In fact the ND team found it so inspiring, they have announced that they will be making ‘The Junction’ their official charity and will continue to raise money and support the foundation as an on-going project. Christina, who has built up a relationship with the young carers at The Junction said: “After connecting with this foundation and what they believe in and strive to do, we decided that we want to make it official with them, in hope of raising enough money to make an impact.” A cheque for more than £3200 was presented
to Lawrence McAnelly CEO of The Junction Foundation, Young Carer’s Project by Beccy Golightly and Christina Easton of Nancy Darcy. Christina told Coastal View: “The amazing amount
of money was raised through show ticket sales, a fabulous raffle with fabulous prizes, a £30 donation from each trader and kind donations on the night of the show. Throughout the year we have also been doing bits and pieces in the salon including a recent Halloween bake off and lucky dip! “As soon as we talked about the Young Carer’s charity, people were really taken up with the work they do and how The Junction help them. It’s obvious that people can really see that the charity is so worthwhile and that’s another reason we wanted to help support them. We will definitely continue our support!” Beccy added: “We would like to say a huge thank
you to all those who donated to the charity, especially those who attended the show and those businesses who donated brilliant raffle prizes. Thank you. “An extra special mention for Jeff McKenna who kindly donated £200 to the charity which he raised by completing the three peaks challenge!”

at Nancy Darcy get a huge well deserved “thank you” from The Junction. “They been inspirational to us and the money that
they have raised to support The Junction’s work to make a positive difference to the lives of Young Carers is absolutely brilliant. “They have demonstrated just what can be achieved through their creativity, enterprising approach, passion, hard work and commitment and we look forward to continuing to work with them. Thank you!” ND are already working hard on next year’s
