edcar Athletic u11s moved up to 4th in the table

after entertaining Middleton Rangers. In a game where the away side caused us very few problems up front but defended stoutly, it was a case of who scored first would win and that’s what we did and then added a further three goals to gain a comfortable three points. Our scorers were Lucy Louden x

2, Maisy Jenkins and Jodie Thorpe and Lucy earned the girl of the match award. Redcar Athletic u13 girls went

top of the table after a very big win against local rivals Redcar Town. On 20 minutes Town took the lead against the run of play with a nice finish from Harriet Row. We replied quickly with a great goal

from a quick throw in and then we added two more before half-time. The second half was even better as we racked up a further 10 goals. The coaches David Freer and Steve Myers where delighted with the performance of the girls who produced an overall great team display. Our goal scorers were Ellie

Baxtrem x7, Kirstin Loughman x3 and one each for Sabrina Freer, Chloe Ayre 1 and Olivia Dalton 1.

Redcar Athletic u15’s also entertained Redcar Town and had an emphatic19-0 win in a totally one sided game but credit to Town the girls never gave up and battled to the end. Redcar Athletic u18s entertained

St Cuthbert’s and the crowd with an entertaining 6-0 win, in a game we dominated and also missed numerous chances to increase our goal tally further. In the end we had to settle for a hat trick from Beth Enderwick, a brace for Gabrielle Wordsworth and one for Georgia Byrnes with Ellie Clements earning girl of the match award.

Guisborough Town News By John Butterfield Guisborough Town FC O

as their place in the top ten of the Northern League was compromised thanks to just two wins from the seven games played. Five losses and one of these was a

much fancied FA Vase tie where Second Division Morpeth scored in the very last minute of extra time after 119 minutes of goal less activity by both sides. Any plans to visit Wembley for that final have been put on hold for another year. Some of the League losses were to be

expected as the Priorymen faced tougher opposition and at times had to field a weakened team as they struggled with injuries and absentees. A club with a successful history, Bedlington Terriers beat Guisborough at the KGV 2-1 but then a few days later Sunderland RCA who often put many goals through the nets were taken apart by Guisborough who won with 2-1 in their favour this time. The Priorymen then visited Billingham Synthonia and beat them 2-0 before the problems restarted with a depleted side travelling to Carlisle based Celtic Nation on a cold, wet midweek night when players struggle to get time off work. There has to be a case for midweek matches to be in the local area? Guisborough were leading 2-1 with minutes to go but somehow allowed Celtic to level and then take all the points

ctober was a pretty poor month for

Dave Wilson, Denis Readman, Dennis Wheeler, Ray Bangay and in front George Morris

with a 3-2 win to the home side. The next two Saturdays saw two defeats and games where no Priorymen scored with a 2-0 defeat at West Auckland followed by a 3-0 victory for Shildon at the KGV in the first game of November. Nine games to play in November, facing

Team Northumbria (twice and both away in a space of two days,) Consett, Dunston and Darlington all away. Home supporters can see Stokesley in the first round of the North Riding Senior Cup on Wednesday 7th, Newtown Aycliffe on Saturday 27th and Penrith on Saturday 8th December. At the North Riding Senior Cup game

the club invited some special guests as part of the ‘40 seasons’ celebrations with Denis Readman the first person to

score for the club in the North Riding competition in 1975, Ray Bangay who scored in the final against Scarborough in the same competition in 1978, Dave Wilson and George Morris again members of the team that burst its way from the local leagues to the Northern Alliance and both scoring in North Riding games. They were accompanied by their assistant manager and ex goal keeper, Dennis Wheeler who is now working with Whitby Town. Many more plans are being made with a special committee formed to help celebrate the actual 40th birthday next summer and one such event is a ‘Party on the Pitch’ with acts such as Limehouse Lizzy, The Beer Pigs and others yet to be confirmed. This date will be Saturday 18th May 2013 so enter it in your calendar, mobile phone, diary etc.

Hate exercise try these tips

is lacking, try some of these workout ideas from OXYGYM. They’re simple, accessible and fun—you’ll never dread another workout again! • “I used to hate exercise, because I associated it with things that are boring to me, like sports and bike rides. But now I use a stationary bicycle, which is great for me, because I can read while I’m on it. Reading is one of my favourite things to do, and definitely not boring. Now I actually look forward to exercise.” • “I find it’s easier to exercise if there’s a purpose to it. I don’t run on a treadmill, but I run to the shop to buy one small item.” • “I have always thought of my exercise

M

time as ME time, and I try to treat each session like any other appointment in my day. I don’t do it for anyone else’s benefit, only my own.” • “Buy something that makes you feel good about yourself when you workout (a smart top, cool trainers, etc) and that helps too.” • “Try coming up with something you really want to do, like a triathlon or road race (Redcar Half Marathon for example), and figure out what you need to do to accomplish it. It is a great motivator, and more importantly (I think), your motivation changes. It’s no longer about losing a few pounds, but rather accomplishing something

any people hate exercise? If your motivation (or creativity)

much larger.” • “I used to not like working out—I’m not athletic at all. For me, it was as simple as signing up for exercise classes at my local gym. Once signed up, I felt like I needed to attend. My first class was Top to Toe, and it was such a blast I now go 3 times a week. I also signed up for gym work. It certainly seems to be helping with my weight.” •“You don’t have to ‘exercise.’ Just find

an activity that you enjoy—maybe dancing or attending one of the aerobic or toning classes? The more you start to move the more you’re going to want to move. It may sound silly but it’s true. Start small and just add a little more movement each week. Also, weight lifting can be very empowering. You just may like it.” • “Working out is the hardest thing that I

have to do all day. Try distracting yourself while you workout. I received an iPod shuffle for Christmas and use it every time I work out. If you figure that one song is roughly 4-5 minutes, then in a 30-minute workout, you will have listened to 6-7 songs. Not bad, right? I find music to be a great distraction when I’m working out. Each song takes me to a different place! It’s great!!” There’s always a reason not to exercise

but thousands of reasons why we all should irrespective of age or ability. Keep fit and healthy Glyn Amos Oxygym.
