C M children in Guisborough By Quita Owen

had a very special day on Wednesday, October 17 when they took part in the first ever ‘Planting Day’ at Guisborough’s King George V Playing Field, near their school. After waking up to yet more heavy rain,

Henderson’s Carpets, deal only with mid to top range products and Carl has set his stall out to deal in the very best flooring, resulting in a lot of new and satisfied customers and much repeat business from previous ones. “We provide home visits and very competitive prices

He added: “Our promise is, phone Carl today and we will see you tomorrow.” Hendersons supply all the leading brands including, Abingdon, Regency, Westex, Durham, Hugh Mackay and a selection of wood flooring including Canmore and Polyflor. Carl said: “People matter to us and we realise we are not the biggest firm, but we are definitely one of the best.” So, why delay, call Carl today, you will be glad you

the skies cleared and the sun came out to shine all afternoon for us! The children spent an exciting afternoon, helped by volunteers from the Tees Wildlife Trust and Wildflower Ark, planting wildflower plants which will help to develop a wildflower meadow in the area. They were able to learn a lot from wildlife experts Dr Sue Antrobus, and Martin Allen, and had a lot of fun at the same time. An unexpected volunteer was a friendly frog, immediately nicknamed ‘Freddie,’ who appeared to watch the fun. Other schools in the town have expressed their interest in the project, including Laurence Jackson School, and everyone is welcome. We already have the Walkway at Pinchinthorpe which is wonderful for the town, but it is quite a long way for the North Guisborough children, especially the younger ones. The KGV Nature area is right on everyone’s doorstep in this part of town and it is great to see the children involved from the very beginning. We hope it will be something they will all be able to learn from, take pride in and care for and most of all enjoy. Local residents have already noticed improvements to parts

from Extended Schools (RCBC), and of course the wonderful children of Chaloner Primary School Garden Club and their teacher, Kath King, for getting things off to such a good start. Thanks too, to the staff of Guisborough Swimming Pool, for help on the day. As for Freddie the Frog, well, with the KGV being a ‘royal’ Playing

of the paths in the area, which the National Citizenship Team, who were here in the summer, worked on. Unfortunately, these young people were unlucky enough to arrive here when the summer weather was at its worst, and despite their brave efforts, weren’t able to finish the paths within their time- frame. However, we have been assured that the work will be completed to make the paths safer and easier to use for everyone, including, hopefully, wheelchair users and families with buggies. Grateful thanks go to Sue and the team from Tees Valley

Field, somebody did actually suggest that maybe he was a Frog Prince, in disguise. He did seem very interested in what was going on. If he appears again, maybe the children could ask him to be our mascot instead.
