A1(M) Road upgrade Petition I

have established a petition with the above heading and my objective is to get the government to bring road transport to the North East to be at least as good as to elsewhere in the country. This would make our area more attractive to inward investment for the new businesses

which are so desperately needed. I have been overseas for many years and I was shocked at the minimal standard of what used to be the most important highway in the country, it used to be called ‘The Great North Road’ linking all the towns east of the Pennines to each other and to London. The North East will struggle

to attract new businesses when investors find there is no continuous motorway linking the area to London.
