including trade shows. “Drexelbrook pro- vides professional service, outstanding cuisine and complete audio-visual servic- es in an elegant atmosphere,” notes Domenick Savino, CPCE, CEO and general manager of Drexelbrook. “Our 30,000- square foot facility boasts both indoor and outdoor accommodations for any type of event.”
Being no stranger to the trade show indus- try, Savino discusses how his venue assists in facilitating a successful show. “Being extremely ‘user friendly’ is a phrase we hear all the time,” says Savino. “During the planning phase, we put ourselves in the shoes of our attendees and exhibitors. We think about the path in, the atmosphere, power requirements, wireless Internet access and portioning space for each exhibitor. When possible, we allow set-up one or two days prior.
Load-in, set-up,
service and load-out are all carefully planned to ensure a seamless flow of events. Shipping of booths and storage of
deliveries allows us to have all material in- place when the exhibitor arrives, all at no charge.”
When it comes to providing a good expe- rience for attendees, Savino adds that Drexelbook strives to provide easy access, complimentary parking, a large check-in area, plentiful restroom accommodations and aisle access allowing for easy move- ment around the ballroom. “Proper light- ing and HVAC also add comfort to the trade-show floor.”
To show attendees, Savino suggests arriv- ing early before the crowds in order to have the full attention of the service or product provider you are trying to pur- chase from or learn more about. “Of course, wear comfortable clothes, espe- cially shoes. And bring plenty of your busi- ness cards to capture sales opportunities.”
Patti Gallagher, president of Main Line Expo, explains how her full-service com-
pany assists in organizing and putting on trade shows, and the many steps they take to ensure an exhibition is successful.
“We’re full service, so if a client is thinking of having a trade show there’s a couple things that will happen,” says Gallagher. “Many times I’ll suggest a venue based on the size show the client is planning on. Then we go to the venue with the client and meet, talk about the needs for show, and then I’ll create the floor plan accord- ing to the booths they think they’ll sell. I create a CAD (computer aided design) - fire marshal approved - to scale floor plan that they use in selling booths. We arrange for set-up and take down for the show. I bring a crew to the venue setting up the show by the floor plan, and then we take it all down afterward and move it out.”
Adding to the full list of services Main Line Expo provides is drayage, or freight han- dling, in which they will take care of get- ting a vendor’s equipment to the show if
