Grounds For Sculpture is close by in Hamilton, NJ, and is home of 250 works of art from well-known and emerging con- temporary sculptors. A garden and arbore- tum is embossed with paved terraces, per- golas and courtyards set against natural woodlands, ponds and bamboo groves. Ready 2 Go?, a local tour company, is avail- able to bring extra punch and productivity to meetings. Its ideas range from corporate walking tours to Einstein scavenger hunts to customized team building events. Themes may include the

“American

Revolution,” “Leadership and Genius,” and “Architecture and Design.”

Next, gather your gear, and head to the Pocono Mountains. What’s in store when you get there? “Just ask for Pocono Dave,” chuckles David M. Jackson, CMP, director of sales, Pocono Mountains Convention and Visitors Bureau. This affable aficionado of all things Pocono delights in offering origi- nality to meeting planners. Possibilities transcend expected ski outings.

“If a group likes adventure, we make it hap- pen,” says Jackson. “Hold a morning ses- sion and then get certified in skydiving. A recent small meeting team building exer- cise featured a NASCAR theme and partici- pants worked in the pit area of our race track. Some find a dude ranch is a good way to escape big city stress. Teams stay in rustic cabins with no TV, work with horses, learn line dancing and watch a rodeo.”

“On the flip side,” he continues, “there are 35 golf courses, spa experiences and arts and theater to invigorate meetings. We find that large conventions bring in subsequent small meetings. Those attendees serve as Pocono ambassadors. A company discov- ers us at an industry-wide expo and subse- quently sends top producers here to do some brainstorming. Or a large corpora- tion charges a dozen meeting planners with investigative tasks during FAM (famil- iarization) tours to the Poconos.”

Meeting facilities dot the four-county Pocono Mountains region.

Each offers

high-speed Internet and wireless capabili- ties, the latest audio-visual equipment, plus amenity after amenity. Regardless of budg- et, Jackson underscores that small meeting planners will be ecstatic with unforgettable results generated in this picturesque and versatile destination.
