Describe your role/job?


I am an audit partner at BDO LLP but also head up the Glasgow office. I’m involved in all aspects of the business, responsible for leading the team and implementing strategy locally.


What skills do you bring to the table/are required in your role?


Tere are technical skills involved in my role as an auditor but it is equally important to bring added value services to clients, while ensuring we empower our people to be the very best they can be.


Passing my CA exams back in 1981, becoming a partner and leading the Glasgow office for the last ten years are all highlights, as is helping graduates grow into first rate advisors. Most recently, BDO being named market leader for client satisfaction in an analysis by Lighthouse Global was a real high point.


What is your favourite city outside the UK?


What’s the best thing about Glasgow Chamber of Commerce?


Glasgow Chamber is increasingly connected with the business community and becoming the voice of business. It stands for Glasgow and Glasgow business.


What one thing would you wish for Glasgow between now and 2014?


Te Olympic Games were fantastic for showcasing London to the world. It would be great if the Commonwealth Games did something similar for Glasgow in 2014, with a real lasting legacy for regeneration.


What do you do to relax at the weekend?


We oſten head to St Monans in Fife for peace and quiet, and perhaps a game of golf at Crail.

learn new skills could change their life and support your business. Reid Kerr College is seeking employers in key sectors to provide work experience as part of an innovative programme aimed at helping young people gain valuable employment skills. Te New College Learning Programme,


launched by the Scotish Government in June, aims to address the needs of both


employers and young people by offering a choice of short courses combined with work placements. Courses have been designed to provide qualifications and employability skills as well as giving employers potential access to new talent. Te College will be working with


employers across a range of vocational areas including Care, Creative Media, Engineering, Retail, Hospitality, Beauty, Hairdressing, Renewable Energies and Administration.

Perhaps performing the Quick Step in front of 2000 people in a BDO Strictly Come Dancing special.

Alex Ferguson, Kevin Bridges, Napoleon Bonaparte and Winston Churchill.
