PICTURES FROM THE PAST

FOUR SHIRES v LOOKING BACK

These three pictures were taken in the mid 1960s and show a building long since demolished. Many of you may not recognise its situation although if you look closely, a ‘Warwick Road’ sign and the Banbury Magistrates Court buildings will place the photographs.

The ‘Banbury General Motor Co’ was a garage situated at the junction of North Bar and Warwick Road - now occupied by a block of flats.

The pictures are intriguing - the old National, Dunlop and RAC signs date the photograph nicely - and the advertising hoarding displays the super ‘Drinka Pinta Milka Day’ slogan.

One can just about make out a car being serviced under the canopy - it looks like a Ford to me...can anyone else identify it I wonder?
