An endearing and intelligent trick horse makes her dreams come true on the beautiful island of Hawaii
Skeeter's Dreams inspires readers to follow their hearts, wherever that journey may take them "Heidrun Metzler...has created a delightful book for young
children...Skeeter is a horse that does tricks in real life, and in Heidrun's book, Skeeter's tricks take us into her dream world where anything is possible. The illustrations are all origi- nal stunning photographs taken by Metzler herself, almost all of which show Skeeter in her natural habitat on the Big Island of Hawaii. Skeeter plays her part whether as an actress, an artist, a unicorn or a flower grower. Some pictures have been trans- formed by changing the background through the magic of Photoshop to show Skeeter as a surfer, a mountain guide, and even as Santa's helper on top of Hawaii's snowy volcano. dren will be clear: If Skeeter can dream to have all those wonderful talents, then so can I." ~ Author and reviewer Jaquelyn McCandless, M.D.
Skeeter, a beautiful grey Arabian, is locally famous for being a trick horse, but thanks to the newly released children's picture book Skeeter's Dreams, her fame is now spreading beyond the island of Hawaii and inspiring children and all those young at heart to likewise explore their talents and passions.
In Skeeter's Dreams, Skeeter's owner and trainer Heidrun Metzler photographs Skeeter in vari- ous outfits that portray Skeeter's goals and bring her sparkly personality and message of empower- ment alive. Set against some of Hawaii's most iconic images, from Waimanu's waves to snow-cov- ered Mauna Loa to Hawaii's beautiful countryside, the book is carefully crafted to please readers of all ages, most especially children eight years old and under.
Skeeter, like children everywhere, dreams of what she might want to be someday. From per- forming as an actress in a play with roses thrown her way to being an artist and painting what she sees, she dreams big. She even dreams of surfing the thundering barrel of a wave and of someday winning the Triple Crown...if she's brave.
Heidrun, an accomplished horsewoman, explains, "My goal in Skeeter's Dreams is to spread the message to never give up on your dreams but to follow your heart and explore your passions within." Become a fan on Skeeter's facebook page by visiting
