OBRA NEWS MARCH 2012 OBRA News


The OBRA kicked off the season with an astounding 177 entries at the OBRA Barrel Blast April 27-29th held at the REACH Centre in Clinton. It was a weekend of high calibre barrel racing, with Josiah Clingen and Sure Dash laying down the weekend’s fastest time, a sizzling 14.884!

Dan O’Connell of MillPack Industrial Maintenance generously sponsored the Friday night Open 4D class and the Youth Division was kindly sponsored by NUCO. Scott Gray’s ongoing support of the OBRA youth riders is greatly appreciated.

OBRA VIP members enjoyed a Big Barrel Breakfast on Saturday morning and a Continental Breakfast on Sun- day. We have over 30 new VIP members and we truly appreciate their support of OBRA.


Wilson’s Tack and Saddle Repair provided beautiful halters for our 2D youth and 2Dpole champions. The Silverado Sweepstakes, sponsored by Jim Wilson Chevrolet had 130 entries. Our 1D champion was Caleb Clingen on That’s Bull.

The NPBA 3D poles had over 65 participants-; this was a record breaking number of entries for OBRA poles! Leslie Richards and Zip were the Sunday 1D champions with a time of 20.051.


Last but not least, a special thank you to all the volun- teers who set barrels over the weekend, assisted with the set up and take down of the pen and stalls, and helped with the office and VIP breakfast without you the show would not be the great success it was.
