22 This long, circuitous cycle covers the majority of East Renfrewshire and highlights the diversity


of magnificent cycling, amenities and scenery to be found throughout the region. Although the route begins at Giffnock Railway Station the cycle takes in several more railway stations meaning there are a variety of options from where the cycle can start and finish. There are some big climbs, numerous descents and fantastic views throughout.


1. From Giffnock Railway Station, turn right onto Fenwick Road (A77) then right onto Braidholm Road. Follow this to a roundabout, turn right, continue along Muirend Road, by Muirend Railway Station, to Clarkston Road (B762) at Muirend. Clarkston Road climbs gradually for 1.5 miles to reach Clarkston at Clarkston Toll.


2. 2.75miles/4.5km Turn left onto Busby Road (A727), cycle by Clarkston Railway Station and climb to Sheddens Toll. Go left where a few minor ascents and descents lead through Busby, by Busby Railway Station, onto East Kilbride Road. Continue out of Busby to a roundabout. Turn right onto Peel Road and cycle through Thorntonhall for 0.75 miles to Waterfoot Road. Turn right, descend this quiet country road for 1.5 miles to Glasgow Road (B767) at Waterfoot.


3. 7miles/11.25km Turn left, follow Glasgow Road for 0.5 miles, turn right into Floors Road where a minor climb
