3. 3miles/4.75km Turn left, cycle along Field Road, turning right into Woodyett Road just before the Busby Hotel. This short diversion means a tricky junction is avoided at the end of Field Road. Follow Woodyett Road then bear left into Hunthill Place. A short section of pavement leads into The Paddock from where a left turn descends to East Kilbride Road (A727) where there is a pedestrian crossing. Turn right, cycle along this busy road, underneath the railway bridge. Turn left into Carmunnock Road (B759), climb steeply out of Busby, then drop down over a bridge onto Busby Road where another steep climb reaches a roundabout at the Carmunnock By-Pass (B766).
4. 4.25miles/6.75km Go straight through into Carmunnock, follow Busby Road as it climbs gently through the village onto Waterside Road. Continue by Carmunnock Primary School and out of Carmunnock by a gentle descent, through eye-catching countryside, to return to the Carmunnock By-Pass. Turn left, cycle a short distance to

East Kilbride Road (A727) and go straight through a roundabout into Thorntonhall. Cycle along leafy streets, passing the railway station, then turn right onto Waterfoot Road, signposted for Waterfoot.
5. 7miles/11.25km Cycle through open countryside for 1.5 miles, taking care at a couple of tight bends after North Hill of Dripps, into Waterfoot, the road culminating at Glasgow Road (B767). Go straight on into Waterfoot Road, where a minor ascent climbs to reach Mearns Castle High School. Turn right onto Broom Road East. An enjoyable descent reaches Mearns Road. Turn right, cycle down this busy road for 1.5 miles to reach Clarkston Toll roundabout. Carefully go right onto Busby Road (A727) and return to the start.
