Exploring Scotland’s Best Kept Secret by Bike
Hills. In East Renfrewshire they are very difficult to get away from and therefore cycling in the region can be tough, whether this be on or off road. However the very nature of the landscape, the challenging ascents and the invigorating descents, along busy roads, quieter ones well off the beaten track, or exhilarating off-road mountain bike routes, yields superb cycling. The height gained along many of the routes grants breathtaking views across, not just East Renfrewshire, but over Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Glasgow with the renowned peaks of Arran and the Southern Highlands visible from a variety of vantage points.
Each cycle in the guide is superb in its own right but many routes criss-cross each other making it possible to combine itineraries to make a longer day. The hills and busy roads can be avoided on a couple of the routes allowing families the chance to enjoy cycling within East Renfrewshire. But whatever cycle is chosen there is no better way to explore Scotland’s best-kept secret.
