2. 0.75miles/1km Follow the track down over a cattle grid with the broad expanse of Lochgoin appearing to the right. At the next junction turn right and slowly climb while continuing around the loch, home to a wide variety of wildlife. Pass by a signpost for Blackwood Hill and cycle along the path with more superb views across East Renfrewshire and beyond to the Ayrshire coast and Ailsa Craig. The track then descends by Dunwan Dam where speed can be picked up–watch out for pockets of loose stone–before climbing steadily towards a conifer plantation with further extensive views opening out over the Campsie Fells to Ben Lomond. Once by Turbine 87 look for sundew and bog asphodel by the track and cycle over a cattle grid and past Turbine 88 to reach a crossroads.
3. 3.5miles/5.5km At the cross roads turn right towards Lochgoin reservoir and follow the track which meanders alongside the southern shore of the reservoir. Pass turbine 27, a short distance from which there is a single track path leading across the reservoir dam wall. This is a shortcut if you want to cut one mile off the journey but please dismount

when crossing the dam wall. Staying on the Lochgoin Circuit the track reaches the main spine road through the windfarm. Turn right onto the spine road and head slowly downhill.
4. 5.5miles/9km Cycle along the road following the signpost to the Visitor Centre (5km/3miles).Continue past the cream coloured windfarm control building passing the path that crosses the dam wall. The track becomes tarmac, follow this round until reaching a track on the north side of Lochgoin signposted “Lochgoin Circuit”. Turn right, and follow the track to Turbine 42.
5. 7.75miles/12.5km Here the track descends to meet the outward-bound track. Bear left to head uphill and over the cattle grid, watch out for loose stone at the junction and retrace your route back to the visitor centre.
