“After researching how other tourism offices are using Pinterest, we’ve found that Visit Bucks County is currently the only tourism office in the United States using Pinterest to directly reach meet- ing and event planners,” said Bencivengo.
Pinterest is unique as a social media site in that it allows users to hone in on their exact interests by following only what they are most interested in seeing. For example, meeting and event plan- ners who may be interested in Bucks County meeting spaces, but not neces- sarily Bucks County attractions, can choose to follow and receive only updates for the “Meet in Bucks County” board. Or, if they are interested in learn- ing more about everything Bucks County has to offer from lodging to restaurants to shopping, they can choose to follow all of Visit Bucks County’s boards.
For meeting and event planners, Pinterest can be a great resource for conducting preliminary research when planning their next meeting or event. Instead of sifting through several web- sites, simply browse a pinboard, click an image that strikes your fancy, and be taken directly to the information you’re looking for quickly.
“At Visit Bucks County, we consider our- selves social media trailblazers, having been the first tourism organization to partner with Foodspotting and the third to partner with Foursquare. Joining Pinterest and using it to reach all of our audiences, both consumer and B2B, only seemed natural,” said Bencivengo.
