2012 Convention & Event Center Update


Amenities/Services: Catering menus are appropriate for a range of occassions, including menus for breakfast, lunch, receptions and dinner. Also available are bar and meeting break menus. Audio-visual services include a highly trained staff with years of experi- ence. A variety of decor options include flowers, drapes and linens.


The Eagles Cheerleaders are available for events and special occasion, too, as are former Eagles Greats who can meet and greet, take pictures, sign autographs or serve as guest speakers. SWOOP, the Eagles official mascot, can spread some Eagles cheer at events, too!


Unique Features: Exclusive stadium tours are available of Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles. These tours include visits to the Comcast Press Box, Announcers' Booth, Club and Suite Levels, Press Interview Room, Field and Locker Room (on non-game days). Tours begin and end in the HeadHouse Lobby, which is located next to the Philadelphia Eagles Pro Shop.

Food and beverage services include a concession stand and catering provided by DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh - Monroeville Convention Center. Advertising support is offered through the convention center's website and Facebook page, as well as through the Visit Monroeville web and Facebook pages. The center also boasts two elec- tronic signs in high traffic areas to pro- vide free advertising for events.


The on site, upscale DoubleTree hotel offers lodging and additional meeting and banquet space, as well.

Amenities/Services: The Pennsylvania Convention Center offers a wide range of state-of-the-art technology, including features like WiFi connectivity, digital signage and smart rooms.


Construction News: A new floor-to-ceiling glass entrance on North Broad Street allows for complete meeting autonomy. The center offers two ballrooms, including its new 55,400- square foot Terrance Ballroom, the largest on the East Coast. In addition, the venue’s 23,400-square foot pre-function space provides an incredible view of City Hall.


Additional Developments: In October 2011, Lenfest Plaza opened directly across from the convention cen- ter on North Broad Sreet. This open-air piazza, part of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, features a 51-foot tall Claes Oldenburg Paint Torch sculpture, and connects the convention center and the Avenue of the Arts with the museums along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, such as The Barnes Foundation, which is set to open in May 2012, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, Franklin Institute and the Academy of Natural Sciences.


Under construction in the heart of the city’s historic district is the 270-room Hotel Monaco by Kimpton, expected to open in the third quarter of 2012. Adjacent to the convention center, the Hilton Home2 Suites hotel will feature nearly 250 rooms when it is completed, expected in late 2013. In the University City section of Philadelphia, a 130-room Homewood Suites also is under con- struction with a completion date set for spring of 2012. The city is working on
