November at the Building Centre in London, the discussion will include fire safety legisla-
tion compliance and how to value engineer fire strategies in order to maintain a scheme’s architectural vision and achieve maximum safety at minimum cost. As legislation has become more onerous fire safety is of paramount importance and needs to be considered as part of the design of a building – the CPD seminar will outline the applications and benefits of fire engi- neering to overcome the restrictive nature of fire safety on design for education and transit buildings whilst achieving build- ing regulations compliance. The seminar will encompass fire safety design considerations for education buildings, including the requirements under the British Bulletin 100 (BB100). Examples will be given for scenarios for both a code compliant and a fire engineered solution. Using examples such as Luton Airport, FDS Consult will demonstrate how to ensure business con- tinuity within transit buildings, whilst addressing the main fire safety design concern; the number of occupants in the build- ing and the resultant exit widths. You will be able to gain a better understanding of RRO requirements to ensure schemes comply and will not breach the RRO relating to fire safety.
