Decorative Aggregate Supplier, Long Rake Spar, have appointed Chris Bourne as southern sales manager. Chris joins Long Rake Spar with more than ten years of aggregates experience from a National Aggregates Supplier. Chris will be responsible for Long Rake’s existing customers in the South East whilst seeking new opportunities to grow the business in this key region. This appointment reflects Long Rake Spar’s continued emphasis on develop- ing and strengthening sales.

GB Group Holdings, parent company of GB Building Solutions, increased both profit and turnover in its last finan- cial year. Turnover increased by 4 per cent up to £130.11 million, profit before tax rose by 3.8 per cent up to £1.27 million, while cash in the bank rose by 36.8 per cent up to £15.23 million. The group’s construction business, GB Building Solutions, also increased both profit and turnover.

2011 proved a record year for Evance Wind Turbines. The Leicestershire- based manufacturer has seen sales grow by over 200 per cent over the last 12 months, and enters 2012 with a strong forward order book for the company’s innovative R9000 small wind turbine. Evance has seen a large increase in the take up of small wind across the UK. Continued strong demand has seen Evance recently expand its facility, doubling in size to increase its manufacturing capability, and its workforce has also grown by 25 per cent over the last year. APT Skidata, parking technology spe- cialist, has been awarded the contract to update the parking technology at London City Airport in order to give greater control and flexibility to the management of the parking systems and improve the customer experience. APT Skidata is set to install barriers for three entry and two exit points across both short stay and long stay car parks. In addition, APT Skidata technology will also be installed at the staff car park and the terminal services delivery access road.

Significant savings in costs and use of electricity, and noticeable improve- ments in quality, are now found at Saltley Community Leisure Centre at Bordesley Green, Birmingham. Catalyst Housing Ltd and its private developer arm, Catalyst by Design, have appointed Ardmore Construction Ltd as the main contractor for Portobello Square – the first phase of the Wornington Green Estate regeneration project. Work will start in January 2012. Plans for a major Brownfield develop- ment in Northampton have been boosted after vital junction improve- ments were completed. The impro- ments are on a key route into Northampton town centre, and have enabled a site owned by the Homes and Communities Agency to be opened up for development. The Ransome Road site covers largely disused land, includ- ing a former landfill facility, and is part of plans for a high quality residential scheme comprising up to 800 new homes. As part of its waterside regen- eration programme, West North-amp- tonshire Development Corporation funded the £2.3 million junction improvements between London road and Ransome road.

We are always on the look out for relevant component manufacturers to join the ‘party’, indeed we have many requests from our registered users, encouraging us to get more companies involved in our database system”. “For 2012 we intend to further
expand our services and actively promote the FastrackCAD website across the industry’s magazines and digital media.”

The course is specif- ically aimed at practicing engineers but students, architects, manufacturers, set designers and others keen to improve their drawing skills have all benefited from the course.
Feeling Good –The Science and Economics of Wellbeing in Interiors Friday 24th February, 8.30am - 11.15pm The second Feeling Good event takes place in February looking at the science behind intelligent interior design. The seminar will examine the latest in scientific evidenced based design, bringing together architects, engineers, interior designers and HR professionals to look at new ideas. The first event was a great success with delegates staying on for an extra hour to discuss ideas.
