Discover 158 acres of magnificent award-winning 18th century Georgian landscape with follies, a serpentine lake and spectacular views across Surrey. Features include a unique Crystal Grotto*, a romantic Ruined Abbey, the Gothic Temple, a Turkish Tent and the Gothic Tower. Throughout the year from snowdrops to autumn colour; the plantings, National Collection of North American trees and shrubs, walled garden exhibition and vineyard offer seasonal interest within the garden. Entertaining events and talks are held all year, including school holiday activities and a children’s only summer adventure camp. Dogs on a short lead are welcome. Opening times


The popular restaurant, coffee shop and gift shop are open every day (except 13 March and 24/25 December), while the house is open Wednesday to Saturday from 15 February to 4 November, and for limited entry guided tours at weekends during the winter.


Admission


Free to National Trust members or £12 per adult, £6 per child to visit both the house and gardens (£7.40 and £3.70 for just the gardens). Prices valid until 1 Mar 2012.


This beautiful country estate was bought by Mrs Greville, an Edwardian hostess, in 1906 and remodelled to be the perfect setting for her famous weekend parties where she entertained royalty, politicians and the best of society. Marvel at her superb collection of fine paintings and porcelain as well as the lavishly decorated interior of the house. Wander through the landscaped gardens with their many hidden features, as well as the wider estate with its stunning views of the Surrey Hills.
