Godalming, Cranleigh, Haslemere
In April 2012 Godalming will remember the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic through the re-opening of the restored Phillips Memorial Cloister – an Arts and Crafts building designed by Hugh Thackeray Turner and surrounded by planting designed by Gertrude Jekyll – which commemorates Jack Phillips, the wireless operator on the Titanic, who grew up in the town.
Godalming Visit Waverley – a secret corner
Nestled in the south west corner of Surrey, the borough of Waverley has something for everyone from long-distance walking routes, sandy beaches and enchanting countryside to bustling market towns with a variety of independent shops and high quality restaurants and cafes.

Named after the Cistercian Abbey on the outskirts of Farnham, the borough has been used as a backdrop for a number of Hollywood films including Steven Spielberg’s War Horse and “Snow White and the Huntsmen” starring Kristen Stewart as well as being a regular filming base for Top Gear.

Haslemere
Situated on the borders of Hampshire and West Sussex, this historic market town with its timbered and tile- hung houses and cottages, is one of the gems of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The many shops, restaurants and cafés in the town ensure a vibrant atmosphere. The Haslemere Museum has fascinating exhibitions throughout the year and is also home to artefacts from ancient civilisations, including an Egyptian Mummy, as well as specimens from the animal kingdom, fossils and plants. The Haslemere Hall is the centre of cultural life with a wide variety of shows, opera productions, plays, films and
other events. The opening in 2011 of the Hindhead Tunnel has enhanced the attractiveness and character of nearby Hindhead as a major attraction for walkers and sightseers who are able to enjoy the peace of the heath and woodland.
Cranleigh
An attractive, small, Wealden market town with a village atmosphere, Cranleigh has something for everyone. The vibrant High Street has a wealth of independent shops, the usual High Street names and a market every Thursday. Several events are held throughout the year, including Spring into Cranleigh, Cranleigh Carnival, the Cranleigh Bonfire and many other festive events to launch the Christmas lights switch on. Cranleigh Arts Centre offers year round entertainment and Snoxhall Play Park, set in Snoxhall recreation fields is an ideal spot for all the family, which together with the Leisure Centre, offers opportunities for play and sport.
