1984 Cerene Macklin Howard writes, “Hello, Chadwick. I am well: 22 years practicing law! (Tank heavens the past 10 years have been part-time so that I can focus on and enjoy my family.) I have an inquisitive, versatile, athletic, intelligent son and a joyful, curious, bright, humorous daughter. My husband, Mel, and I have been married for 15 years and are enjoying life together, frequent travels, and our dear daughter and dear son. I trust that all is well at the old alma mater.”


1985 Erik Bergrud, senior director of community and government relations for Park University, was sworn in as president of the American Society for Public Administration on March 15. Te organization consists of 8,500 members, including public and nonprofit practitioners, scholars, researchers, and students. Bergrud holds the unique distinction of having been a student, instructor, and administrator at Park. He served as administrator of Park’s Hauptmann School for Public Affairs from 1992-1998 and rejoined Park in 2005. From 1998-2005, Bergrud worked in the national office of the ASPA as a senior staff member. Bergrud has been actively involved in


several other national and international public administration associations, including the International Public Management Network and the United Nations Public Administration Network. He is an associate member of the National Academy of Public Administration’s Standing Panel on Social Equity in Governance. In 2008, Bergrud co-edited his first


book, “Civic Engagement in a Network Society.” He is the vice chair of the


Parkville Economic Development Council (Missouri) and immediate past president of Kansas City’s International Relations Council. Bergrud earned a Bachelor of Arts


degree in sociology from the University of Kansas, and a Master of Public Affairs degree with an emphasis in government- business relations from Park University. In June 2009, he graduated from the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program. He has won several awards and honors.


Adam Berry won both a daytime Emmy and a BMI award in 2011 for his original music in “Te Penguins of Madagascar.” Adam has written the musical score and songs for many television and film projects including “South Park,” “Te Sarah Silverman Program,” “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” and “Kim Possible.”

1992 Clifford Holekamp was recently recognized as a 2011 Distinguished Alumni by Washington and Lee University. Holekamp was a journalism major at Washington and Lee, and has become nationally known as an entrepreneur. Aſter beginning his career as a sales executive for IBM, Holekamp earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University’s Olin Business School, where he received the prestigious Kupke Entrepreneurship Award. He lives in St. Louis, Missouri. In the past decade, Holekamp has been involved in a number of start-up businesses in health care, retail, real estate, and education. In 2003,


aſter Inc. magazine called his company, Foot Healers Podiatry Centers, one of the top ‘Five Ideas to Watch,’ he was named entrepreneur of the year by the St. Louis County Economic Council. He is president of Holekamp Healthcare and is a senior lecturer in entrepreneurship at Washington University in St. Louis. Washington and Lee gave him the award “in recognition of his entrepreneurial spirit and accomplishments, his civic contributions, and his devotion to Washington and Lee.”


1993 Brian Seibert received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia. He has published three children’s books about dance, and is completing “What the Eye Hears,” a history of tap dance for Farrar, Straus, and Giroux. He writes weekly capsule reviews for Te New Yorker, contributes regularly to Te Village Voice, and his reviews and essays have been published in Te New York Times, Te Los Angeles Times, Te New York Sun, Slate, Dance Magazine, and Te Treepenny Review. He has been awarded writer residencies at Blue Mountain, Yaddo, and MacDowell, and he has taught writing at Columbia and Te Chinese University of Hong Kong. Recently, he curated a symposium at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.


1994 Jorge Luna is still working for Sports Club Los Angeles and YogaWorks in Los Angeles. You can view some of his yogic teachings on his new show “Salud Emocional,” broadcast on the new Spanish Cable Channel Utilisima. Jorge expects to put out his own DVDs for fitness and yoga
