Thomas Goodspeed, Athletics Director and Physical Education Department Head


Goodspeed recently moved to California from Hawaii, where he spent nearly 20 years teaching both physical education and science in independent schools. At Hawaii Preparatory Academy, he taught biology, physical science, geology, archaeology and more, while also coaching football and basketball. At Parker School, he directed the athletic department while supervising the K-12 physical education curriculum, teaching AP biology, and coaching boys and girls varsity tennis. Goodspeed received his Bachelor of Arts degree in geology from Williams College, and his Master of Science degree in earth and planetary sciences from the University of New Mexico.


Sheryl Moore Goodspeed, Interim Drama Teacher Drama teacher Sheryl Goodspeed most recently led the K-12 performing arts program at Hawaii Preparatory Academy. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her Master of Science degree in humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She also completed a two-year professional acting conservatory program at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Teatre in New York City.


Samantha M. Laurian Inglis, Assistant Teacher (Grades 4 and 5)


Inglis joins the Village School faculty aſter serving as a substitute fiſth-grade teacher at Chadwick in 2011. She has taught at numerous locations throughout the area, including Los Angeles Unified School District, Brentwood Science Magnet, and Palms Elementary. Inglis received her Master of Arts degree in education from Pepperdine University, and her Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality management from Cornell University.


Mark Levine, Middle and Upper School History Levine served as Assistant Professor of Chinese at Wesleyan University from 2009-2011. Previously, he taught at numerous other universities, including Colgate University, Gettysburg College, Louisiana State University (Beijing, China), and Yale University. Levine received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in East Asian language and literature from Yale University, and his Bachelor of Arts in Asian studies from Swarthmore College.


Cris Lozon, Kindergarten Teacher Lozon joins Chadwick School from the American School in Japan, where she served as kindergarten teacher and curriculum facilitator. She has also taught in Italy and the Philippines.

Lozon received her Master of Education degree from Northern Arizona University, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a doctoral candidate in instructional leadership at Nova Southeastern University and serves as an online faculty member for Northern Arizona University’s College of Education.


Alexandra Siedzik, Upper School Spanish Most recently, Siedzik taught Spanish at St. Paul’s School in Visalia, California, where she created a curriculum for both elementary and middle school students. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and history from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Master of Arts in social sciences and comparative education from the University of California, Los Angeles. Siedzik is set to receive her Doctor of Philosophy degree in social sciences and comparative education from UCLA in 2013.


Shelly Sowell, Middle and Upper School Health Teacher A part-time instructor this year, Sowell is teaching the eighth- and ninth-grade life skills classes. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Lipscombe University and a Master of Education degree in Human Development Counseling from Vanderbilt University. A licensed mental health counselor, Shelly worked as a middle school counselor/ teacher at Miami Country Day School, as a therapist at the Children’s Psychiatric Center in Miami, and as a staff therapist, project coordinator, and counselor at the Vanderbilt University Psychological and Counseling Center.


Jonathan Tufo, Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations


Tufo most recently served as vice president for advancement at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. He comes to Chadwick with 15 years of experience in finance and development for both corporate and educational organizations. Tufo received his Master of Project Management and Master of Business Administration degrees from Keller Graduate School of Management (Long Beach), and his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from California State University, Fullerton.


Diane Webber ’99, Physical Education Teacher and Basketball Coach


Webber recently founded her own health and wellness company, Te Webber Method, helping coach and empower people to live healthier lives. She has served as a dietetic intern at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center as well as the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. Webber received her Bachelor of Science degree in operations research from Columbia University, where she was also MVP of the women’s club rugby team. She also received a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics from California State University, Long Beach. Webber is fluent in Korean.
