47 FIRST BUILD YOUR POOL...
The competition of a stunning 40ft by 20ft concrete pool on the edge of the Cotswolds is only the start of the story when it comes to having a finished product. Concrete pools provide the quality of finish, long life and solid structure.
After that it’s a question of the finishing touches.
Oxfordshire pool company, Aqua Services Ltd specialise in taking the raw finished pool and completing the picture. Numerous SPATA awards bear testimony to the fact that their expertise lies in creating a pool to complement and enhance its surroundings. And this pool, a shining example of how the extra equipment is an integral part of any quality pool, is no exception.
“Our expertise lies in making dreams
the creative demands of swimming pools in terms of different shapes and sizes which bring out the best in the process. Contech UK have a huge experience in the construction of sprayed concrete swimming pool shells installing on average 100 shells a year for many of the UK’s leading swimming pool installation companies and leisure organisations, including local authorities. The company retains a team of 26 fully qualified installers and run four trailer pumps. “We do not work with end users and are dedicated to supplying a specialist service to the pool trade and related businesses,” said Contech’s Chris Benson. “By working this way we can guarantee that we offer a completely focused service and ensure our trade customers receive a personal and professional approach on each and every job.”
Contech UK’s focus is on operating the business with due regard for health, safety, the environment and supplying a quality service to their clients with notable results in all areas. Chris again: “We continually seek to improve the quality of all our operations, are registered with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and take every opportunity to improve employee training through the board’s available schemes.”
All Contech pool shells come with a full set of structural calculations that are prepared by an in- house design and structural engineering team. There is a 10 year guarantee and all shells are constructed to BS8007 standards for water retaining structures. The shells can be constructed in as little as five days.
Contech are skilled in the engineering of every type of pool shell including deck level and infinity edge. Cave and other types of cover pits, pool shells on piles and are also comfortable in undertaking any complicated feature the client may specify.
Sprayed Concrete Services have over 20 years experience in all areas of pool construction, from small residential pools to large commercial projects.
In a day and age where building space comes at a premium, SCS lends itself as an excellent construction method for any concrete structure particularly when faced with sites that have difficult access. Working closely with structural engineers, the speed and ability involved in the process of the SCS method gives any pool contractor confidence and greater scope to take on projects that would normally be undertaken by a civil engineering company or major contractor.
SCS recently helped out a pool contractor with a particular 18 metre x 4 metre pool project where the main contractor did not want to take responsibility for the integrity of the swimming pool shell and its integration with the pool’s underground plant room; plus the

come true, and whilst we deal with all ends of the price spectrum, we do unashamedly concentrate our efforts at the top end of the market,” says Aqua Services Managing Director Eddi Bjarnason. “We love the challenge of designing something that will complement its surrounding and be considered a thing of beauty, which is why we always turn to Certikin. We know that their products are of first class quality and they are not going to let us down.” The pool was personalised by Certikin using a Calorex heat pump, Aquaspeed pump, underwater lights, Tagelus filter, Prozone and Polaris pool cleaner. At one end of the pool there is a luxurious six person spa, and as the pool’s owner has pets and children he requested a Coverstar pool cover should be installed.
