Artesian raised the profile of its new Garden Spas range when the Doncaster based business exhibited at Barcelona. The range is perfectly suited to customers wanting a high quality spa for a small space or in a garden with limited access. The Garden Spa series consists of five hot tubs ranging from a one seater to a spacious four seater (including lounger). Built to quality, Artesian Spas are renowned to provide a powerful massage in a small spa. These spas are perfect for small gardens, reduced access and tight spaces, both indoors and out.

CHINESE HOT TUBS REFUSED ENTRY TO THE UK i FOR FURTHER INFORMATION

Two Chinese hot tub companies were refused import accreditation in early November by Customs and Excise. The two businesses were thought to be about to import pirated copies of hot tubs based on three leading US manufacturing brands. The paperwork failed the import conditions. An HMRC spokesman said: “We don’t comment on individual cases but we are constantly looking out for illegal products seeking to apply for standard importing conditions.” The two incidents which happened on consecutive days are the latest in increasing concerns among established hot tub manufacturers and suppliers on both sides of the

Atlantic about pirated copies of top brands where the design is copied and then offered at less than half the recommended price.

On investigation although the designs of the hot tubs look genuine, service engineers have said that the electrics and plumbing are often both ‘basic and dangerous’ and fail all safety checks.

The practice of these rogue models has been known about for some time with dealers in Britain and some manufacturers being approached to stock the products. The concern is the practice is growing.

Piscine in Barcelona raised the issue with some hot tub exhibitors to

warn them that there had been evidence of rogue companies working at the 2010 Lyon show and looking to copy exterior design and gather detailed and technical information from leading brands. One of the seminars at the Las Vegas trade show in November dealt with the problem of piracy of hot tub designs in the United States after dealers asked for the increasing problem to be raised. Dealers said they had been approached by Chinese manufactures offering very high margins on low cost products. They had been shown catalogues and sales brochures which bore striking similarities to leading brands.

DEALERS JOIN IN 1 MILLIONTH HOT SPRINGS TUB CELEBRATION

Notching up your one millionth hot tub is something to be proud of. Watkins Manufacturing, the makers of the Hot Spring Spas brand did exactly that earlier this autumn and shared the major achievement with their dealer network.

The one millionth Watkins hot tub, a Hot Spring Aria®, was built at the end of September 2011. To mark the occasion, everyone took time out at the Vista, California manufacturing base to celebrate with the production team and staff that made it all possible.

Since its inception in 1977, Watkins Manufacturing has focused on creating a culture where people

are encouraged to excel, and that’s reflected in the quality hot tubs it produces. Over the past 33 years Watkins has built a dealer network covering over 60 countries around the world.

Hot Spring Spas is part of the Masco Corporation, one of the United States’ top 500 stock market companies and claims itself as the world’s number one hot tub manufacturer.
