The Olympic and Paralympic Games, London 2012

At Hackney Community College, our students are at the heart of the action.

The 2012 Games have brought us loads of opportunities.

Students have:

• Been involved in building the stadium. • Visited the Olympic Park and taken part in activities, discussions and debates.

• Volunteered or got paid work in sport and performance, event management, electrical engineering, security, hospitality or catering and more.

• Volunteered in Canada at the Vancouver Winter Games, to support the catering.

• Taken part in host-borough festivals of sports.

• Joined 90 other students from across the Host boroughs to become Legacy Champions – making a difference to the future of London.

The 2012 International Press and Media centre, based in Hackney, provides great opportunities for our media students.

Bridging the Gap HCC is part of a network of 60+ colleges involved in training people up to work as event stewards, door supervisors, spectator safety staff or CCTV operators during and after the Games.
