BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT The Extended Diploma is a two-year level 3 course which prepares you for further academic study or to enter employment as a small business computer systems developer. Depending on your interest and performance in the first year, you will join either the software development pathway or the IT and business pathway for the second year.


Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade C or BTEC First Diploma (merit or above) or appropriate equivalent qualification.


IELTS requirements: 5.5 (minimum 5.0 in writing)


Possible next steps: Higher Education or employment. Length of course (weeks): 72 Hours per week: 16


BTEC Level 4 HNC/HND Diploma in


Computing and Systems Development On this Higher Education course, you will learn a broad range of areas of computing. Units covered include: business skills for e-commerce, computer systems, employability and professional development, project design, implementation and evaluation, system analysis and design, data analysis and design, human computer interaction, website design and management, programming, e-commerce strategy, information systems, digital images, data structures and algorithms, quality systems in IT and spreadsheet modeling.


Entry requirements: Computing qualification at Level 3 or appropriate equivalent qualification and/or appropriate experience in the subject area.


IELTS requirements: 5.5 (minimum 5.0 in writing)


Possible next steps: A higher level qualification, professional qualification or a supervisory/ managerial role in the workplace.


Length of course (weeks): 36 for HNC and a further 36 for HND.
