BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in


Creative Media Production This course covers the practical skills required to work in the television, video and film industries as well as core theoretical knowledge. Over the 2 years you will shoot and edit your own videos using Final Cut HD to complete a range of creative and semi- professional production briefs. You will also learn the basics of 2D Animation using Flash and develop analogue SLR and digital photography techniques. Theoretical concepts in film, television, animation and still photography are studied and you will present and write critical analyses of texts you have viewed, as well as researching for and scripting your own material. Group work and professional practice is essential in gaining this qualification, as well as learning the ability to work independently and to deadlines. Industry links are made through visits and guest speakers.


Entry requirements: You should have 4 GCSEs at grade A-C or appropriate equivalent qualification. Plus, in addition to showing a genuine interest in the subject, you will need to show an electronic portfolio of your work or a website link that shows examples of your artwork.


IELTS requirements: 5.5 (minimum 5.0 in writing)


Possible next steps: Higher Education or employment within the media industry. Length of course (weeks): 72 Hours per week: 18


BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma


in Multimedia The programme combines practice and theory to develop creative skills using high specification Apple Mac computers and industry standard software. Students work in 2D and 3D Graphics and Animation, Print Design and Interactive Multimedia. Software used includes Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Director, After Effects and Maya.


Entry requirements: You should have 4 GCSEs at grade A-C or appropriate equivalent qualification. Plus, in addition to showing a genuine interest in the subject, you will need to show an electronic portfolio of your work or a website link that shows examples of your work.

BTEC Level 4 HNC/HND Interactive Media This Higher Education interactive media course is a progression route towards a Nationally accredited work-based qualification and work in the creative industry. You will be taught a broad range of interactive media and media production techniques, ranging from Web/Game Design, Moving Image (TV and film), Graphic Design and Digital Media. This exciting course is ‘hands on’ and offers training that is based on the needs of employers and professional bodies. You will be given live briefs set by clients who work in the Media industry to encourage the generation of ideas with a client or purpose in mind.


Entry requirements: Level 3 qualification from an associated course or appropriate equivalent qualification or relevant experience.


IELTS requirements: 5.5 (minimum 5.0 in writing). Possible next steps: Degree.


Length of course (weeks): 36 for HNC and a further 36 for HND. Hours per week: 16
