Original Sock Monkey
NOSTALGIC IMAGES launched in 1990 with a wide range of tin signs, mounted on 16 by 20 inch artist blackboards. Over the next few years, the line continued to grow, adding high quality street and parking signs along with col- lector and 3D art prints. “We have also added high quality closeouts of every shape and size, to give our customers a more complete whole- sale buying experience,” says Bill Westrick, president. “We now have over 700 tin sign designs, along with 300 street and parking signs and collector art prints. We also have an ever changing line of close- outs that appeals to a wide range of customers.” In recent years,
Nostalgic Images has added many novelty product lines. “One of the most successful for our customers has been the Original Sock Mon- key™ line,” adds Westrick. The line includes colored hats, gloves, scarves, children’s sets, traditional monkeys, and the patented Super- fl y™ sock monkey. The newest product in the Orig-
inal Sock Monkey line is the sock monkey dog toy. The inspiration for the dog toy was a natural pro- gression of an already successful line of products. “We make them for everyone else, so why not let our four legged friends in on the fun?,” inquires Westrick. “With this is mind, we had to take into account
the difference in the target audi- ence, and make changes for safe- ty and labeling. We are thrilled with the fi nished product.” The Original Sock Monkey dog
toy is much like the original, with a few exceptions to make it safe for furry friends. The toy is 12 inches tall, with button eyes replaced by sewn on eyes, and the fuzzy top strings removed. Nostalgic also changed the tag to make it more pet owner friendly. The products are individually tagged with a UPC code for easy retail. Each unit
