Advancements in technology aren't useful only on the day of the show, either. There are high-tech solutions available for get- ting the word out about an upcoming meeting or event to a targeted audience, as well.

"Digital signage and displays make it easy for the attendee to know what is going on - the location of the workshops, when the gen- eral session starts, where to get something to eat... They are also a good way to bring value to the sponsors of an event, as digi- tal signage can be used to get the spon- sor's message across in a variety of places and methods.”

Using audience response systems (ARS) is a way to collect data instantaneously. Now, with advancements in smartphones and iPads, attendees have the luxury of using their own handheld devices to provide immediate polling feedback.”
In fact, Cataldi adds that he recently read in MPI's FutureWatch 2011 that more than 80 percent of meeting and event profes- sionals are using their smartphones and/or tablet computers at meetings and events today. "The mobile application (app) revolution is no longer ignorable. If you do a Google search for 'mobile meet- ing apps,í you will find that it turns up
