WATERPARKS

Polin installed a variety of slides at Ukraine’s Dream Land waterpark

POLIN LAUNCHES THREE NEW RIDES ACROSS EUROPE T

urkey-based Polin has completed 47 waterpark projects across Europe so far this year, with three new rides –

the Hybrid Dragero, Racer Twin Hybrid and King Cobra – making their appearance in Europe for the fi rst time. The Hybrid Dragero, which debuted at

Aquasplash Waterpark in Antibes, France, is a mat racer slide featuring three high- speed multi-racer lanes that transform into three enclosed Aquatube slides and end- ing in an Aquacatch. The 150m (492ft)-long, multicoloured ride was custom-designed for Aquasplash, and installed at the park along with a new kids’ water play area featuring including an Octopus Slide, Mini Pirate Slide, Cobra Slide, Penguin Shower and Giraffe Shower. The Racer Twin Hybrid debuted at

Aqualand Bassin d’Arcachon, France in June. It consists of two double tubes con- fi gured side by side along a circular path, each accommodating two riders at a time. After some twists and turns, the riders reach a near-vertical drop with speeds of up to 52km per hour, after which the dou- ble tubes diverge into two different slides – one a Turbolance and the other a Space Boat bowl ride. Riders who are directed into Turbolance are propelled uphill before experiencing a reverse path taking them over a bump, ending them in a splash pool

T

or dry-out. Riders who are led into Space Boat experience several whirls around a large bowl before exiting along a slide through the hole. King Kobra, fi rst installed this summer

at Cobra Kingdom Waterpark in Antalya, Turkey and Djuba Waterpark in Krasnodar, Russia, offers visitors an intense experi- ence and theme. Its confi guration allows two double tubes to race through a circu- lar path and an 8m (26ft) plunge at 51km per hour, straight into the mouth of a cobra, which emits fog, a high-pitched hiss, spaying water and visual effects. Finally, G-forces take over the tube and riders oscillate up and down before the tubes slow down on the waterside. Other projects for Polin this year have included the installation of a Black Hole Turbolance at France’s Aqualand St. Syr Sur Mer – a combination of the Turbolance and Black Hole slides – plus a variety of slides for the newly-opened Dream Land waterpark – Ukraine’s largest indoor water- park at 25,000sq ft (2,300sq m). Polin installed a Body Slide, Multi Slide, Freefall, Black Hole, Flying Boats, Rafting Slide, Space Boat, Turbolance, Aquatube, Space Hole, Tunnel Freefall and Wide Slide at the attraction, along with a children’s area featuring the Octopus Slide, Aquatower Type-310, Obstacle Track and Iceberg.
