contrast lettering. On busy days additional signage is added and throughout the exte- rior queue umbrellas help to shade visitors on sunny days.

TickeTing Ticketing for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is part of the daily admission price to Disneyland. Within the park guests can choose Disney’s Fastpass option for timed access, which is located near the attraction and clearly marked. The average wait time on the day of my visit was 50 min- utes for stand-by visitors.

DisableD access Wheelchair access is handled through the regular queue line, so every visitor gets the same experience. The queue width and turning radiuses are very comfortable and well within ADA standards. The attraction has no stairs and uses gradual ramping throughout. Visitors with electric vehicles however enter through the exit retail, where they are guided to the simulators.

Design anD layouT Star Tours: The Adventures Continue has four experience zones, an exterior queue zone, a pre-show queue line departure zone, simulator zone and exit retail zone. The exterior queue zone is well designed and compactly fits in front of the attraction.

During the experience, guests visit Naboo (top left); and confront Darth Vader (above). Droids R2D2 and C3PO host Star Tours while preparing the Star Speeder 1000 for departure (right) in preparation of the adventure

A nice touch during my visit was the sud- den appearance of roaming Stormtroopers who instantly engaged with fans. This was a big hit with everyone in the queue. The zone also includes a pull-in conditioned indoor queue zone with themed Star Wars music, black light murals and soft carpet- ing. This helped with the hour-long queue. The pre-show queue line departure zone has been completely redesigned with enhanced features and effects. Here visitors meet their Star Tours hosts – ani- matronic C-3PO and R2D2 – who are busy preparing the Star Speeder 1000 for depar- ture. The pre-show is quite successful in creating the mood of a busy spaceport with lighting and special effects, surround audio and a very large and dynamic HD Media screen that serves multiple func- tions. These include a spaceport departure board, preview of adventure destinations, weather on other planets, travel preview videos and highlights of the technical fea- tures of the Star Speeder 1000 and the

new i360 remote camera rig. The screen is absolutely fantastic with great colour and high-definition resolution that holds up no matter where you are in the queue line. The pre-show queue continues as visi-

tors wind their way up a series of ramps through the droid customs area. This section has many fun features including animatronic droids, a shadow window showing a variety of the spaceport travel- lers and a thermal robot, which scans everyone before departure. In the simulator zone, visitors are given 3D goggles and directed to the pre- boarding queue lines where they watch a Star Wars customised pre-boarding simulator safety video. The wait time and queue organisation was well managed.
