The coolest family funM with something for

c i everyone! The ERUPTION Murphy’s Waves new wave machine is designed for children THREE NEW INSTALLATIONS FOR INTERLINK I

nterlink has completed the installa- tion of new water rides in Indonesia, Sweden and France.

In Sweden, Interlink has provided the

Daftö Resort in Strömstad with a two-lift, 215m (705ft)-long standard fl ume ride, with an hourly capacity of approximately 500 riders. At Euro Park in Vias Place, France, a mini fl ume ride with a water speed of 0.4m (1.3ft) per second has been installed for the three- to eight-year-old age group, featuring a Native American theme with boats based on a canoe design.

to cater to young children. “The new system can generate waves in a shallow pool of only 2ft (0.6m) at the deep end. Previously, it was impossible to generate waves in a pool with a depth of less than 4ft (1.2m),” says sales director Jim Stuart. “We recently surveyed our existing water-

park clients to see what kind of attraction they’d be interested in adding to their parks. We were surprised when so many of them suggested a shallow water, kids-only wave pool,” he says. “The problem with this has always been that traditional wave pools need relatively deep water in which

a custom-built Super Flume at Bandung, an indoor leisure project. The ride, which is approximately 277m (99ft)-long, features double-seat, Zodiac-style boats, two lifts, a water speed of 1.5m (5ft) per second, and two chutes – one at 9m (259.5ft) and the other at 3m (10ft). The Aztec-style theming includes a large volcano and rock work. The pools have so far been installed at Six Flags New England, White Birch Bay Aquatic Centre, Missouri and at the Biscarrosse Camping Resort in France.

MURPHY’S WAVES LAUNCHES WAVE MACHINE FOR SHALLOW WATER

urphy’s Waves Ltd has launched Waveplay, a pneumatic wave machine specifi cally designed

to make the waves. However, after some extensive research and development, we were able to overcome the challenges.” Each Waveplay pool can be custom designed to fi t the available area in both indoor and outdoor parks. Pools can be a traditional shape or round with the machine in the middle and can be built with or without spray elements. “We found that most park operators are looking for relatively inexpensive but high capacity attractions that can be installed within the existing boundary with the mini- mum of down time,” Stuart says. “The new Waveplay is a truly compact and inexpen- sive wave pool which will help attract more families with younger children to the park.”
